German airport plunged into emergency shutdown after explosive drone discovered

A German airport was plunged into chaos after a worker discovered an explosive drone.

The device was found on the apron area used for loading and unloading cargo at Leipzig/Halle airport near a Ukrainian Antonov Airlines aircraft, police documents say.

The employee caught and held the drone without realising it could be explosive, German media reported. Investigators determined the device was equipped with a detonation mechanism, with initial tests revealing explosive nitrates, according to Bild.

The explosive was believed to be Semtex, a substance used in military and demolition operations. Documents obtained by Welt indicate that a blast was only prevented because the detonator had broken off during flight.

Four Antonov Airlines planes were present at the site when the device was uncovered.

As we’re reminded every Christmas, Mary and Joseph were required to travel to Bethlehem by imperial decree for a Roman census. Luke 2:4 says, “Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David.”

It’s clear why that detail is important, right? God promised the Messiah would be a descendant of David. Both Joseph and Mary were part of that larger family. Both of them were qualified to receive the fulfillment of God’s promise.

But notice how God brought about that fulfillment. A pagan emperor issued a decree, thinking he was merely counting his subjects for taxation purposes—and in doing so he unwittingly opened the door for a seven-hundred-year-old prophecy concerning the village of the Savior’s birth. Joseph, a descendant of David living in Nazareth, was forced to return to his ancestral home. And there in David’s city, David’s greater Son was born—the eternal King who will one day sit on David’s throne forever.

What the Gaza Roadmap Actually Says

On July 30, US President Donald J. Trump announced that his Board of Peace had obtained an agreement for the disarmament of Hamas and of every other armed group in Gaza. The 15-point roadmap published the following morning promised the transfer of government to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), an International Stabilization Force (ISF), an International Verification Committee, and a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza tied to certified progress.

The roadmap’s governing formula could hardly be more categorical: “One Authority, One Law, One Weapon.” Gaza would stop being a territory where ministries, terrorist battalions, clan networks and foreign patrons compete beneath the fiction of Palestinian government.

Everything then turns on a question the announcement left unanswered: Has Hamas agreed to surrender the power and weaponry that have defined it for decades, or only to change the label on them?

Israel strikes south Lebanon after first evacuation warning in weeks

One person has been killed in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon, the country's health ministry says, after the Israeli military said it was responding to a "blatant violation of the ceasefire" by the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.

A man died and 12 other people were injured when the roof of a prayer hall at the cemetery of the town of Tibnin was hit, according to Lebanese media.

Strikes were also reported to the west in the town of Mansouri, where the Israeli military issued its first evacuation order for more than a month.

Hezbollah has not commented on the events, which came as Israeli and Lebanese officials attended US-sponsored talks in Rome aimed at maintaining the ceasefire.

In late June, the three countries agreed a trilateral framework that should see the Israeli military gradually withdraw from territory it is occupying in southern Lebanon in exchange for the disarmament of Hezbollah.

Two weeks ago, the Lebanese army was allowed to deploy to one of the first "pilot zones", after Israeli troops pulled out of the village of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh.

Hezbollah has rejected the agreement, saying the provisions linking Israel's withdrawal to the group's disarmament crossed "all red lines".

The Israeli military announced that it had begun carrying out "precise strikes" in southern Lebanon on Wednesday afternoon, about 30 minutes after its Arabic spokesperson had told residents of Mansouri to evacuate ahead of "forceful action" there.

Both statements accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire but gave no further details.

Iran says deal with Oman on Strait of Hormuz is in final stages

Iran says it has reached an agreement with Oman on a route for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei did not give any further details on the agreement, which he said was "in the final stages".

Baqaei warned, however, that a deal with Oman would not guarantee safe navigation through the strait, arguing security remained impacted by the US blockade of Iran's ports. The US and Oman have not commented on the proposal.

Since the US and Israel attacked Iran in February, Tehran has largely blocked the Strait of Hormuz through which about a fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas usually passes.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump warned that Iran would be "hit very hard" if the strait did not open "very soon".

His comments came after senior US officials said talks had progressed to allow shipments to potentially resume later this week, though Iran has maintained that it is not negotiating with the US and has no plans to do so.

During the 2026 FIFA World Cup—a global celebration of competition, excellence, and the will to win—millions of viewers were told that the truly Christian thing to do is... lose. Intentionally.

That was the message of yet another He Gets Us commercial literally titled, Lose.

Its general theme is that there are more important things than winning. This, of course, is true, but viewers were also encouraged to intentionally lose—to, for example, “lose the argument, intentionally.”

Such messaging is, of course, in keeping with previous He Gets Us commercials.

During the 2024 Super Bowl, He Gets Us aired another commercial titled “Foot Washing.” It consisted of several consecutive images of people washing the feet of other people.

Again, the imagery seemed innocuous—until the pattern became unmistakable. A great many of those washing feet appeared to fit a traditional “American” profile, while most of those getting their feet washed did not. Images included a white woman washing the feet of an illegal—and rather annoyed looking—Hispanic migrant; a white woman washing the feet of a Muslim woman in hijab; a white man washing the feet of an American Indian; and a white Christian clergyman washing the feet of a black “trans” man/woman.

At the very end, the supposedly “profound” point of the commercial is made: “Jesus Didn’t Teach Hate. He Washed Feet.”

So he did. But he also taught a great many other things—including that people must repent of their sins or face the fires of Gehenna—and even engaged in violence, flipping tables over and whipping money changers out of the temple.

Trump says Iran will be 'hit very hard' if Hormuz Strait not open soon as oil prices fall

Donald Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would open "very soon" or Iran would be "hit very hard" as oil prices fell to a three-week low amid hopes of a deal.

The US president was speaking to Fox News after Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent both said talks had progressed to allow shipments potentially to resume later this week.

On Tuesday, the cost of a barrel of Brent crude, the global benchmark for oil prices, fell by almost 5% to under $80 (£60) on the news of supply disruptions potentially being eased. It continued to move lower on Wednesday - down about 0.7% in Asian trading.

But the failure of previous talks in recent months to de-escalate the conflict has led to a volatile oil market, with motorists ultimately being hit by higher fuel prices.

"We're having very good discussions," Trump said during a visit to California, insisting Iran was keen to seal a deal to bring an end to months of conflict.

US Central Command (CentCom) said the "southern route through the Strait of Hormuz remains free and open for all commercial vessels seeking to transit the international waterway".

On Tuesday, along with the drop in Brent crude, US West Texas Intermediate prices were down more than 5%, to $76 a barrel. Both contracts dropped to their lowest levels since 13 July.

Rubio said there had been progress made in discussions on getting more ships through the strait with Iran and Oman.
