I have been deeply interested in Bible prophecy all of my adult life. As much as I love the end-time message, there is one aspect that troubles me. It is the knowledge that the bad guys will be on a winning streak, and I will be forced to watch this process happen until the Lord calls us home. Because the Word of God predicts the rise of a global dictatorship, I realize America is destined to come under authoritarian rule.
I believe our personal freedoms were basically doomed the day the Department of Homeland Security was created. This monster has grown ten times in size, and records a large portion of our personal information. Just last week, there was a news report revealing that the Feds are using cameras in our computers to spy on us.
Because the government tries to hide its efforts to infringe on our liberties, tracking its movements will only give you a belated indication of how our freedoms are being eroded. If you want to observe the early signs of despotism, watch who controls the media. Before it became clear that Putin was the de facto dictator of Russia, he showed his stripes by using: buyouts, imprisonment and plain old murder to take over every major news organization in the land.
Earlier this month, the FCC presented a plan to have monitors in every news room. The idea was quickly abandoned, but it was astonishing that the FCC thought this was a good idea. The most troubling part was the lack of outrage from the major news outlets. The government suggests putting Big Brother agents in their midst and somehow NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN didn’t see the need to publically shout, “Are you Crazy?”
Now that Jimmy Fallon has replaced Jay Leno on The Tonight Show, I’m starting to see why NBC fired someone who had the number one rating for late night television. Leno had a liberal slant, but the “powers that be” thought they could do better. When Jimmy Fallon took over, right away in his first week he had Michelle Obama as a guest. When Seth Meyers replaced Fallon on the Late Night show, his first guest was Vice President Joe Biden. A number of media watchdogs also see the replacement as part of a White House coup d’état.
Another big shift to the left has taken place at Yahoo news. For many years, the best place to find news was at Yahoo. Since they teamed up with NBC, the site has become very biased against conservatives. Just about every day, I see video links from Comedy Central and Saturday Night Live that make fun of people on the right.
It just shows how ignorant our nation has become when you have millions of people getting their political views from comedians. Years ago, the jokesters went after any fair target. Today, the liberal agenda has become the core of the message. The reason why The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has such a strong cultural influence is because it instituted the practice of packaging old liberal lies in an easy to swallow candy coating of comedy.
The only good news on the media front was CNN pulling the plug on Piers Morgan Live. It was a ratings poison to have a British guy come to America, and base his show around telling people that they need to give up their Second Amendment rights. Unfortunately, liberals don’t care about ratings or money. They have another priority, a sinister agenda that comes from the pit of hell. Already there is talk that Rosie O’Donnell—a loud mouth lesbian who half the country can’t stand—heads the list to replace Morgan.
I think the lights out moment for press freedom will come when something happens to Fox News or Rush Limbaugh. Someday, we could read that a billionaire (who is a known donor to the Obama Administration), decided to buy Fox News’ parent company, or that Limbaugh’s radio stations suddenly decided to change their format.
Because the forces of darkness cannot stand any glimpse of light, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the drive for total control to extend down to the level of websites like Rapture Ready. As I related to our regular supporters in a letter last week, I trust that we will be long gone by the time depravity reaches rock bottom.
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (Matthew 24:14 KJV).
