A significant recent archeological discovery in western Turkey may hold a prophetic hint as to the nation from which the Antichrist will someday burst forth onto the world scene.

According to a recent report by Fox News, archeologists have uncovered the ancient “gate to hell.” Not literally, of course, but rather they’ve discovered an ancient pagan temple known as “Pluto’s Gate,” the cave that was believed to be the portal to Hades, in Greco-Roman mythology.

According to the Greek geographer Strabo, the cave emitted a thick vapor that would kill any who came into contact with it. According to Francesco D’Andria, the archeologist who discovered the gate, “We could see the cave’s lethal properties during the excavation. Several birds died as they tried to get close to the warm opening, instantly killed by the carbon dioxide fumes.”

Some students of prophecy have noted the similarity of the gate to hell to the “Abyss” as described in the book of Revelation:

“When [the angel] opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions.” (Revelation 9:2-3)

What is more interesting about this find as it relates to biblical prophecy is the fact that the gate was discovered in modern-day Pamukkale, Turkey, known in ancient times as Hierapolis. According to the first-century historian known as Pliny the Elder, Hierapolis was also known as “Magog.”

In fact, it was specifically this ancient Turkish-Magog connection that informed the understanding of a wide range of Jewish and Christian theologians concerning the region from which the armies of Gog and Magog would descend into the land of Israel in the last days.

Gog and Magog, according to the biblical prophet Ezekiel, are the armies of the final antagonists of the Jewish people, who would invade the land of Israel just prior to the return of Jesus. While many prophecy teachers today hold to the idea that Gog and the Antichrist are two distinct entities, this belief is actually a newer minority view within church history. Consider the following partial survey of theologians, both Christian and Jewish, who have long looked for the Antichristian armies of Gog of Magog to come from the land of Turkey:

Hippolytus of Rome (170–235), an early Christian theologian, in his Chronicon, connected Magog with the Galatians in Asia Minor, or modern-day Turkey.

Moses Ben Maimonides (aka Rambam) (1135–1204), the revered Jewish sage, in Hichot Terumot, identified Magog as being on the border of Syria and modern-day Turkey.

Nicholas of Lyra (1270–1349), a Hebrew scholar and renowned biblical exegete, believed that Gog was another title of the Antichrist. Lyra also affirmed that the religion of the “Turks,” a term used to refer to Muslims in general, was the religion of the Antichrist.

Martin Luther (1483–1586), understood Gog to be a reference to the Turks, whom God had sent as a scourge to chastise Christians.

Sir Walter Raleigh (1554–1618), in his History of the World, also placed Magog in Asia Minor, or modern-day Turkey:

“Yet it is not to be denied, that the Scythians in old times coming out of the northeast, wasted the better part of Asia the Less, and possessed Coelesyria, where they built both Scythopolis and Hierapolis, which the Syrians call Magog. And that to this Magog Ezekiel had reference, it is very plain; for this city Hierapolis, or Magog, standeth due north from Judea, according to the words of Ezekiel, that from the north quarters those nations should come.”

John Wesley (1703–1755), in his Explanatory Notes on Ezekiel 38 and 39, identified the hoards of Gog and Magog with “the Antichristian forces” who would come from the region of modern day Turkey.

Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758), one of American history’s most renowned theologians, also viewed modern-day Turkey as the nation from which the coming Gog Magog invasion would come forth.

John Nelson Darby (1800–1882), the British-Irish evangelist and a father of modern Dispensationalism and Futurism, in his Synopsis of the Books of the Bible, views Gog as the final Antichristian forces God will bring against Israel:

“Gog is the end of all the dealings of God with respect to Israel, and that God brings up this haughty power in order to manifest on earth, by a final judgment, His dealings with Israel and with the Gentiles, and to plant His blessing, His sanctuary, and His glory in the midst of Israel.”

C.I. Scofield (1843–1921), author of the Scofield Reference Bible, viewed the oracle of Gog of Magog in Ezekiel 38 and 39 as speaking of the Battle of Armageddon. Scofield, spoke of Ezekiel’s oracle thusly:

“[T]hat destruction should fall at the climax of the last mad attempt to exterminate the remnant of Israel in Jerusalem. The whole prophecy belongs to the yet future ‘day of Jehovah’; Isaiah 2:10-22; Revelation 19:11-21 and to the Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:14).”

Charles Lee Feinberg (1909–1995), a prominent Messianic Jewish expositor in his commentary on Ezekiel, states, “The armies of chapter 38-39 would appear to be included in the universal confederacies seen in Zechariah 12 and 14.”

Charles Ryrie, in his Ryrie Study Bible, views Gog and his hordes as one and the same with the Antichrist and his armies.

Dave Hunt, apologist, author and radio commentator, identifies the Gog of Magog Battle with other Antichristic prophecies and views it as a reference to the ultimate battle of Armageddon.

Many other prominent Christian theologians could be cited. If all of these theologians are correct, and Antichrist/Gog does come forth from the modern nation of Turkey, then it would certainly seem appropriate that Turkey is the home, not only to the throne of Satan (Revelation 2:13) but also to the mythological location of the ancient gateway to hell.

Islam’s Treatment of Women – Rape Permitted of non-Muslims

Salafi Sheikh Yasir al-‘Ajlawni, a Jordanian of origin who earlier lived in Damascus, Syria for 17 years, posted a YouTube video last week where he said he was preparing to issue a “legitimate fatwa” making it legal (in the eyes of Islam) for those Muslims fighting to topple secular president Bashar Assad and install Sharia law to “capture and have sex with” all non-Sunni women, specifically naming Assad’s own sect, the Alawites, as well as the Druze and several others, in short, all non-Sunnis and non-Muslims.

In the modern-day, the so-called religion of peace is adept at dismissing Qur’anic passages dealing with Islam’s heinous treatment of women. When a modern-day Sheikh advocates a Qur’anic instruction permitting precisely what is denied by Islam’s pundits, it is evidence that the religion of peace is anything but that. Here is the Qur’an’s passage that permits Muslim men to practice polygamy along with sexual prerogatives over any women that “your right hands own.”

If you fear that you will not act justly towards the orphans, marry such women as seem good to you, two, three, four; but if you fear you will not be equitable, then only one, or what your right hands own; so it is likelier you will not be partial. Qur’an 4:3 (Arberry translation)

The phrase “what your right hands own” refers to non-Muslim women claimed in victory, i.e., female slaves of war. In Ibrahim’s article, he refers to the fatwa of Sheikh Ajlawni prescribing Qur’anic treatment of Syrian non-Muslim women, victims of the rebellion against Assad. Ibrahim puts it this way:

Islam’s ulema, or “scholars,” are unanimously agreed that “what your right hands possess” is, according to Islamic law, simply a sex-slave. Linguistic evidence further suggests that she is seen more as an animal or a possession than a human—hence this inhuman fatwa.

You might be wondering what this has to do with Bible prophecy? There is but one passage that is specific to the issue of the antichrist’s treatment of women:

Daniel 11:37 (NASB) ³⁷ “He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he show regard for any other god; for he will magnify himself above them all. (Emphasis supplied).

The point is that the antichrist and those who follow him will manifest a treatment toward women that will be disrespectful, abusive, violent and without regard to what a woman desires or considers to be of value. Islam fulfills this prophecy and the current article referenced by Raymond Ibrahim is evidence of Islam’s fulfillment.

General MacArthur warned about next war with North Korea

I posted cutting-edge information about this situation. North Korea has now taken this situation to the point of war with no turning back. The war could start any moment, but I just sense that now is not the time. I think this war will coincide with the war in the Middle East. It will coincide with China attacking Japan. I just cannot see this war starting without China giving the green light.

When I was a youngster, the Korean war had just ended in a truce, but it officially never ended. For years everyone was talking about the war. I remember my grandfather and others saying if we did not finish off North Korea that the next war would be 10 times worse. They felt that North Korea would never give up but had to be destroyed.

General MacArthur said the same thing, and challenged President Truman over his handling of the Korean War. Truman fired MacArthur for disobeying orders. My grandfather thought that Truman was correct in firing General MacArthur for disobedience, but that MacArthur was correct in his outlook on China and Korea.

Here we are 60 years later, and my grandfather’s words are ringing in my ears. Truman’s decision is now coming into play. NK has nuclear weapons of some sort. It is 10 times worse than 1953, but there is no turning back.

Always remember that God warned of this war. Every major move of NK was directly linked to the US touching Israel or the advancement of the “homosexual agenda.” The latest being homosexual marriage at the Supreme Court in the end of March. Remember of the judgments on a nation that turns from God into sin is its cities burn. What would a nuclear weapon do to a US city?

In light of open homosexuality in the military, and NK threatening a nuclear attack while the homosexual hearing was taking place, I only see disaster for America. The nation now has NO hedge of protection from God. The pastors and much of the church are asleep and not interceding, so the nation is wide open for judgment. (I have a prayer room every Thursday night and we do intercede for America. You are welcome.)

God did warn but SO few were paying attention. God ALWAYS warns before judgment. I can understanding the world not seeing the warnings, but it is inexcusable that His church should sleep through them. The church is AWOL with a terrible war about to breakout.

If the war does not break out now, I cannot see it going beyond the summer until it erupts. It is very close.

Have you ever wondered how the big banks make such enormous mountains of money?  Well, the truth is that much of it is made by gambling recklessly.  If they win on their bets, they become fabulously wealthy. 

If they lose on their bets, they know that the government will come in and arrange for the banks to be bailed out because they are “too big to fail“.  Either they will be bailed out by the government using our tax dollars, or as we just witnessed in Cyprus, they will be allowed to “recapitalize” themselves by stealing money directly from our bank accounts.  So if they win, they win big. 

If they lose, someone else will come in and clean up the mess.  This creates a tremendous incentive for the bankers to “go for it”, because there is simply not enough pain in this equation for those that are taking the risks.  If the big Wall Street banks had been allowed to collapse back in 2008, that would have caused a massive change of behavior on Wall Street.  But instead, the big banks are still recklessly gambling with our money as if the last financial crisis never even happened.  In the end, the reckless behavior of these big banks is going to cause the entire global financial system to collapse.

                        So much to report but the hot issue is North Korea and the building war. There is no doubt that war is coming but when? It could start now because Kim Jong-un is in a corner. I beleive that God will use this war as a “rod of judgment” against America. I cannot see this war being pushed back into next year. All signs are for this year. I think NK will coordinate it with China attacking Japan and Iran at war with Israel. America would be paralyzed by this and unable to defend itself.

The US cannot fight a long war because the nation is broke. A war against NK would destroy the dollar and economy. It would send the nation into runaway inflation as the federal reserve just prints money. In the long run, NK could win by destroying the US economy.

This is bearing down right now, so draw close to the Lord and stand in faith. Seek His grace in your life, so you will not be overwhelmed and fearful. Above all, never take your eyes off the Lord Jesus and His coming for His bride. Looking for the Blessed Hope will give you all the strength to get though what is coming. I do hope the Lord Jesus soon comes for His church. The groom is coming for His bride.

Jordan promise to regain East Jerusalem for Islam

Jordan’s has an “historic role in securing the holy sites as well as the Palestinian sovereignty over the West Bank and east Jerusalem”.

The head of PLO and the king of Jordan sign an agreement to bid for the reoccupation of East Jerusalem.

According to al-Habash, a new agreement was devised in order to coordinate the protection of the al-Aqsa Mosque and all the Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The agreement reiterated Jordan’s historic role in securing the holy sites as well as the Palestinian sovereignty over the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

Jordan’s 1994 peace treaty with Israel recognizes Jordan’s role as custodian of Christian and Muslim shrines in the city, which Israel captured from the kingdom in the 1967 Mideast War. The Palestinians want the eastern portion of the city as the capital of their future state.

The fate of the city and its shrines is to be determined in final status talks with Israel.

A statement from Jordan’s royal palace said the agreement signed Sunday between Abbas and King Abdullah confirms a verbal deal brokered in 1924.

Abbas’s spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that the Palestinian president and the Jordanian king also discussed future cooperation

in light of recent developments in the Middle East, and following last week’s Arab League summit, which approved a Qatari proposal to set up a $1 billion fund for Arab east Jerusalem.

In response to the approval, Abbas said in his speech at the summit: “The Israeli occupation is working in a systematic and hurried way to Judaise east Jerusalem, change its features and uproot its Palestinian residents, attacking the al-Aqsa Mosque and its Muslim and Christian holy sites.”

What if England promised to look after the religious shrines of Washington D.C?  

The United Kingdom controlled the city for some years prior to 1776 A.D, and might feel that the city now has become to Americanized.

The Kingdom of Jordan controlled East Jerusalem from 1948 to 1967. Before 1948, there was not even a “Kingdom of Jordan”.

The so-called “historic rights” to control this city, can at best be based on fairy tales. Because even in the Koran, the city of Jerusalem is not even mentioned. Not even once.

That the Kingdom of Jordan feel it has divine right to look after the “Christian holy sites” in Jerusalem, is fine. Likewise the Bible explains that this divine right was given by God of Israel to the Jewish people.  The Jews have since 1967 been good caretakers, and there is no need for a replacement.

The Kingdom of Jordan’s trace record from 19 years of occupation of the City of David, exposes this Muslim Kingdom as evil doers. More than 50 synagogues were burnt and destroyed by Jordanians from 1948 to 1967.There is absolutely no need for a re-occupation of East Jerusalem.

That Israel in 1994 acknowledged the Kingdom of Jordan’s right to be custodians to Muslim and Christian “Holy cites”, is  a mistake. It gives the Muslims the upper hand in their refusal to let Jews and Christians pray at the Temple Mount.

There is a price to pay for Israel’s mistake.  From the holiest site of Judaism, Muslim hooligans are permitted to throw stones and indulge in terror against Jews and Christians.  The Islamic forces in Jerusalem have never done anything but evil , and will continue to do so after the rule of the final antichrist has been established.

Only Jesus the Messiah will bring an abrupt end to this regime, who will lay the final trap for the Jewish people.

One of the saddest things to watch is a young star going from playing a family-friendly role to ones that are only fit for a harlot. In 1993, Britney spears and Christina Aguilera started out dancing on the Mickey Mouse Club. A decade later, they were in a three-way kiss with Madonna at the VMA awards. In the past few months, the sexual revolution has hit another speed bump as a growing number of actors realize the negative consequences of doing nude scenes. "Seas Roaring" and the "Gog" Factor I’ve found it always a good thing to do when striving to serve as a watchman on the wall: Always look at Jesus’ prophetic words when examining these times of omega signs. The best place to start is in the Gospels that record the Lord’s Olivet Discourse. It was thus when I began thinking on what is most pertinent in the news this past week. Something in particular jumps out of the pages of the Lord’s recorded foretelling: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring” (Luke 21:25). Earlier I had been “watching” a news program, listening to a correspondent shouting to be heard over the noise of an angry mob. The network then cut to several other scenes of irate crowds shouting in unison words I couldn’t make out. The correspondent was saying the roaring of the crowds in the various locations shown was all about the decision by the Eurogroup to “haircut” depositors of the banks of Cypress. At the time, the Eurogroup, which was responsible for insuring deposits of the banks involved, had decided to grab money from the accounts of most everyone. Later the Eurozone powers that be decided on a less draconian action. They determined not to take as much from the accounts of the depositors with lower Euro amounts in their banks. Thus the noise–the “roaring” in the streets--has lessened, if not completely abated. I admit up front that I don’t fully understand everything involved in the economic abyss into which Cypress has plunged, and into which, it is feared, much of Europe, such as Greece, France, Italy, Spain, and others might plunge. However, I do understand, as should anyone who has ever deposited hard-earned money into their bank, that for someone in government--or anyone else--to reach in and rob one’s bank account is the stuff of which riots are likely to be fueled. Kind of makes you mad just thinking about it happening to you, doesn’t it? And that sentiment was explored throughout the financial expert community this week just past. One of my favorite economic experts weighed in with a thought along these lines: “The decision of the government in Cyprus to simply take money out of people's bank accounts there sent shock waves around the world. People far removed from that small island nation had to wonder: 'Can this happen here?'" (Thomas Sowell, "Can It Happen Here?" www.townhall.com, 3/26/13, p. 1). Exactly… Is this a test to see how the masses will react to such overt robbery by those in authority? I’ve gotten that question many times over this week, and have asked it myself. Call it conspiracy "kookdom," but the powers did start in the smallest of venues in their–shall we call it--experiment? They quickly decided to take a milder tact. However, the robbery will still take place. They just will reduce the size of their haul in their need for money to fix the horrible mess they’ve made of managing fiscal matters. Absolute power has indeed corrupted absolutely in Europe, as Lord Edward Acton would have it. The United States mess is infinitely bigger in terms of the amount of indebtedness. The only saving grace is that America is so gargantuan in its influences and so intricate in its linkages in monetary affairs worldwide that the powers that be will keep it propped up at all costs–at least until some unforeseen circumstance or deliberate action for purposes of serving the globalist banksters’ lust and greed becomes feasible to institute. In either case, it will take a crisis or crises of major magnitude to bring the U.S.–thus all the world--down in one gigantic collapse into chaos. When that happens, there will indeed be a roaring of ear-shattering decibel. I am convinced that the roaring will be worldwide in its scope. The economic morass that gets more quicksand-like by the day not only causes the sea of humanity to roar in distress, but draws other foretold end-times elements into the quagmire. Thus, the student of Bible prophecy attuned to Holy Spirit enlightenment can begin to understand how the last-days puzzle fits together. I cite as example Russia’s growing involvement in the fiscal turmoil now swirling about to America’s east. The Russians were particularly hard hit by the financial goings-on in Cypress, it was at first surmised, because many Russians–particularly those with considerable funds, had placed money in that country’s banks for tax shelter purposes. It is rumored that the Russian underworld–the Russian Mafia-types—particularly would be given the proverbial “haircuts” by the Eurozone’s actions. Russian President Vladimir Putin at first was threatening in his repudiation of the Eurozone’s actions, but for some reason changed his mind and spoke more conciliatorily about the action taken. This has puzzled many observers. His spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said: "Considering the decisions adopted by the Eurogroup, Putin considers it possible to support the efforts of the president of Cyprus and the European Commission aimed at overcoming the crisis in the banking system of this island state" ("Russia’s Putin in Surprise Support for Cypress Bailout," http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financialcrisis/9952952/Russias-Putin-in-surprise-support-for-Cyprus-bailout.html#mm_hash). One has to ask, knowing the former KGB head’s modus operandi: What’s in it for Vlad? It is conjectured by some apparently in the know that Putin and others in Russia likely were given a heads-up on the coming seizures of depositor assets. It’s hard to fathom what other intrigues might have been at work to change the mind of this hard-nosed Russian dictator-to-be. As a student of Bible prophecy, one must consider the words of Ezekiel the prophet. He said that a group of leaders that sounds an awful lot like the current diplomatic lot of America and Europe will one day ask Gog, who almost certainly will be a future Russian leader: “Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?” (Ezekiel 38:13). Economic matters will be, from now until the return of Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the catalyst that will cause the seas of humanity to roar in tumult and, finally, produce a war that will threaten to extinguish all life on the planet. Jesus has promised to intervene before that destruction can fully play out. Again, I’m convinced it will be the Rapture of the church that will burst the building bubble and bring the financial structure of this fallen world crashing down around all who are left behind. Jesus is the blessed hope (Titus 2: 13). Accept His offer of salvation this very moment, and escape the carnage to come. --Terry
