In John 3:3, Jesus tells Nicodemus that in he wants to go to Heaven, he must become born again. Why would He do that?
"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3 (KJV)
Among the many heresies and outright lies taught by the
Word Of Faith movement, the false doctrine that Jesus Christ became born again after suffering in Hell at the hands of the Devil is among the most pernicious. This whopping lie is taught by is taught by
Joyce Meyer,
Benny Hinn,
Kenneth Copeland,
Kenneth Hagin, as well as nearly every other false teacher in the Word Of Faith movement.
In John 3:3, Jesus tells Nicodemus that if he wants to go to Heaven, he must become born again. This is the first time in human history that this term is ever used, and Jesus takes the rest of John 3 explaining what it is. It is an action of the Holy Spirit causing a sinner to become the "new creature" described in 2 Corinthians:
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
The reason why Jesus tells us this is found in Genesis 5, where we see a fallen Adam and Eve producing children in their own likeness:
"And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:" Genesis 5:3 (KJV)
Adam and Eve were made, as the Bible states, in the image of God. Then they lost that image in the Fall and God cursed them. The children they produced were the children of Adam and Eve, not the children of God. The Bible says that only after becoming born again can we be called God's children:
"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:26 (KJV)
So when Joyce Meyer and the entire Word of Faith crew teach that Jesus Christ became "born again", they are teaching a lie. Jesus Christ never sinned, never committed even one transgression, never had to offer a sacrifice for Himself ever. Not only that, Jesus was not born of Adam, He is the Son of God and born of a virgin by the action of the Holy Spirit. Mormons teach that "man becomes God" and that "God was a man like us", but the Bible knows of no such nonsense. If Jesus was not sinless, then He could not have made a sacrifice for us. To teach that Jesus became born again is to teach that the Son of God was a sinner like me and you. That's heresy, plain and simple. But it doesn't end there.
The Word of Faith false teachers then compound this lie by teaching another lie, that Jesus Christ "suffered in Hell as a sinner" and was "tormented by the Devil in Hell".
When Jesus on the cross cried "It Is Finished!", the once and only sacrifice was made and accepted God almighty. It was, as He said, finished. Done. And much to the chagrin of the Catholics and their daily Babylonian "mass", never to be offered or repeated ever again.
"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ oncefor all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool." Hebrews 10:10-13 (KJV)
Do you get that? It was all completed on the cross, all of it. Jesus didn't say "it is started", He said "it is finished". So did Jesus go to Hell? He sure did. Why? To preach the world's wildest "I told you so" sermon to all the souls burning in Hell, and to gloriously set free all those who died in faith and we patiently resting and waiting in Abraham's bosom.
"Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:" Ephesians 4:8-12 (KJV)
Cleanse your mind of that Word of Faith filth by hearing about the real Jesus of Nazareth and who He really is:
So why, you may ask, do all the Word of Faith teachers tell you that Jesus "went to Hell and was worked over by the Devil"? Because they are lying to you, that's why. And no matter how passionately they preach, or how loudly they scream, the words that issue forth from their mouths teach things not found anywhere in the Bible.
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
On the cross, Jesus took on Himself all of our sins, every one of them, and became sin for us. But He did not become a sinner, not for 3 days or even for 3 minutes. And He did not become born again, as His first birth was perfect. He is not the son of Adam, He is not like us. God is His Father, not Adam. To say that Jesus became born again, in Hell no less, is every bit as nonsensical as saying that Jesus was a Christian. It is a profound level of Bibleignorance that can produce this level of Laodicean "scholarship".
The Word of Faith "Jesus" bears no resemblance to the perfect, sinless Son of Godfound in the pages of God's preserved word. If you claim to be born again and don't have the Holy Spirit inside telling you that the Word of Faith people are lying, then you should check your salvation.
Something's missing. Better get it fixed before it's too late. Remember, only truly born again people go to Heaven. One great way to know you are saved is to have conviction from the Holy Spirit.
Can you hear Him now?
