Beware the Tisha B' Av Synchronicities; Is The Doomsday Clock Ticking? Tisha B’Av is one of the most tragic days in all of Jewish history. This year Tisha B’ Av falls on 8/14/16 and there are some interesting facts about this year’s Tisha B’ Av that makes it a day that bears watching.   In history Tisha B’ Av was the day in which both the first and second temples were destroyed. In fact “Tisha B'Av is regarded as the saddest day in the Jewish calendar and it is thus believed to be a day which is destined for tragedy.” The Talmud (a collection of Jewish teachings) states that it is the day that the messiah will be born on. Of course we know this will be the false Messiah, because the real Messiah was already born, and he was not born on Tisha B’Av.   Tisha B’Av literally means the 9th of the month of Av, but in years such as 2016 where the holiday falls on a Sabbath day it is pushed to the 10th of Av. Thus this year since Tisha B’Av falls on a Sabbath it has been moved a day later and thus begins at sundown on Saturday August 13 and ends at sundown on Sunday August 14.
