BIBLE BELIEVER: Pastor Robert Jeffress Not Ashamed Of Jesus At US Embassy Opening, Draws Fire From Mormon Mitt Romney

The evangelical pastor Robert Jeffress delivering a blessing at Monday’s opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem is a “religious bigot” who is unworthy of such an honorary role, Utah Senate hopeful Mitt Romney wrote on Twitter Sunday night.

"For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels." Luke 9:26 (KJV)
EDITOR'S NOTE: John Hagee offered up prayer at the US Embassy opening in Jerusalem, Israel yesterday, and took heat for not having the courage to mention the name of Jesus Christ. And rightly so. But representing the Bible believing crowd on the other side of the fence was fearless pastor Robert Jeffress. Jeffress was not only respectful of his mostly Jewish audience, he wonderfully closed out his prayer in the Name of the only Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Well, Mitt Romney didn't seem to care much for Pastor Jeffress because he has said in the past that  judaism won't save you, and Mormonism is a heresy. Winner, winner, chicken dinner on that one. Sorry Mitt, Pastor Jeffress was correct on both counts. Salvation for the past 2,000 years is found only in the redemptive work and shed blood of Jesus on the cross at Calvary, and Mormonism which was started by petty criminal and con man Joseph Smith is indeed a heresy.
“Robert Jeffress says ‘you can’t be saved by being a Jew,’ and ‘Mormonism is a heresy from the pit of hell,’” Romney, who is Mormon, wrote on Twitter Sunday night. “He’s said the same about Islam. Such a religious bigot should not be giving the prayer that opens the United States Embassy in Jerusalem.”

Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress, who leads Dallas’s First Baptist Church and is also a member of President Donald Trump’s evangelical adviser board, is well-known for sharply critical statements on faiths other than his own, including labeling the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints a “cult.”
Robert Jeffress, on his church’s website, has also written that “Islam is a false religion” and that “if you sincerely follow the tenets of Islam, then you will end up in hell when you die.” The controversial pastor defended his positions on Twitter as based in deeply held faith rather than bigotry.
Islam is a false religion. If you sincerely follow the tenets of Islam, then you will end up in hell when you die. Islam does not lead people to God. It leads people away from the true God. Not only that, Islam is based on a false book. The Quran was written by Muhammad over a 20-year period. Not one single prophecy in the Quran has ever been fulfilled. Not one piece of archeological evidence can confirm anything in the Quran. It is a false book. - Pastor Robert Jeffress, October 18, 2017
“Historic Christianity has taught for 2,000 years that salvation is through faith in Christ alone,” he wrote. “The fact that I, along with tens of millions of evangelical Christians around the world, continue to espouse that belief, is neither bigoted nor newsworthy.”
Before the ceremony, Jeffress told the Associated Press that "it's sad that Mitt feels the need to lash out in anger on such a historic day but it's not going to overshadow what is happening here." source
