ALLAHU AKBAR: Democrats Now Want to Change a 181-Year-Old Rule Banning Religious Headwear in the House

As they prepare to welcome two newly-elected Muslim women into the 116th Congress, Democrats have proposed a clarification to a 181-year-old rule banning representatives from wearing hats on the House floor.

Lewis Charles Levin was an American Jewish Congressman and the first Jew ever elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1844. He was not allowed to wear a kippah, or yarmulke, while on the House floor due to the a law implemented in 1837 banning religious headgear in the House. Since 1844, many Jews have been elected to Congress and no one ever considered changing that rule to accommodate them. Just Jews, who cares, right? (insert bored yawn here)
Flash-forward to 2018, where two Muslim Congresswomen have been elected to the House, and one of them wears a headscarf and a hijab associated with the Muslim religion of Islam. Now all of a sudden, the Democrats are highly concerned about religious headgear for the first time in 181 years. Kinda funny how that is, eh?
You better prepare yourself for a rush of legislation in Congress supporting Sharia Law and other Islam-friendly ideas, because it's coming. An article in the Washington Post from back in June of 2017 was already preparing you for the coming change. Doing a Google search on the topic 'sharia law in america' is quite the eye-opener, I suggest you try it.

Democrats Want to Change a 181-Year-Old Rule to Allow Religious Headwear in the House

FROM MSN: If approved, the new rules would allow lawmakers to wear religious headwear, like hijabs and kippahs, once Democrats take control of the chamber in January.
Representative-elect Ilhan Omar, one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress, wears a headscarf. She was born in Somalia and came to the United States as a refugee. The proposed rule was co-authored by current House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, ranking Democrat on the Rules Committee Rep. Jim McGovern and Omar. It comes as part of the Democrats’ new House rules proposal package. The drafted changes promise to “ensure religious expression,” by “clarifying in the rules that religious headwear is permitted to be worn in the House chamber.”
No one puts a scarf on my head but me. It’s my choice—one protected by the first amendment.
And this is not the last ban I’m going to work to lift. https://t.co/7U3ZLTaWur

The current rules, which were implemented in 1837, decree that “every member shall remain uncovered during the sessions of the House.” Those rules could be interpreted to disallow Omar from using the head covering she wears as part of her faith.
The rule change comes as part of Democrats’ broader promise to “restore inclusion and diversity” in the House. Alongside the clarification on head coverings, Democrats have also proposed to change House rules to explicitly ban LGBTQ+ discrimination and to create an independent office to promote diversity among House staff hires.  SOURCE
