Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez drew backlash on Twitter after criticizing those who offered prayers after the mass shooting at two mosques in New Zealand.

Now I know that unsaved people cannot understand or know the things of the spirit of God and of the word of God, because there is no Spirit of God dwelling within them. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of those people, obviously. But even with that said, to say that prayer "doesn't do any good" reveals a disturbing level of coldness and cynicism. Many times I have witnessed unsaved people who were faced with tragedy, and most of those times they asked for my prayer. But not so with AOC.
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16 (KJV)
This new breed of Democratic Socialists are very much like the old breed of previous Democratic Socialists like Stalin, Marx and Hitler in the sense that they too despised any religious celebration or occasion where they themselves were not the object of that attention and worship.
Don't pray for the people who died in the attack, because their fate is sealed and nothing can change that. But you can pray for the families and loved ones who are left behind to deal with the unbelievable feelings of grief and loss. Pray for God to use this tragedy for a fresh movement of His Holy Spirit there in New Zealand. And pray for AOC, too. She is just another lost Hell-bound sinner who, if she doesn't become born again, will step out of this life one day and wake up in a place filled with flames, from which there is no escape.
'What good are your thoughts & prayers': Ocasio-Cortez criticized for comments on New Zealand shooting
FROM USA TODAY: "At 1st I thought of saying, 'Imagine being told your house of faith isn’t safe anymore.' But I couldn’t say 'imagine.' Because of Charleston. Pittsburgh. Sutherland Springs," the first-term Democrat from New York wrote hours after the shooting. "What good are your thoughts & prayers when they don’t even keep the pews safe?"
Ocasio-Cortez's tweet sparked a firestorm of replies from people who criticized her for attacking those who chose to pray while absorbing the details of the heinous attacks.
The shootings in the New Zealand city of Christchurch on Friday resulted in at least 49 fatalities and the detention of three armed suspects, one charged with murder, in what Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called a terrorist attack.
At 1st I thought of saying, “Imagine being told your house of faith isn’t safe anymore.”
But I couldn’t say “imagine.”
Because of Charleston.
Pittsburgh.
Sutherland Springs.

"Just wow. Incredible nasty thing to say after a tragedy," one woman wrote on Twitter, continuing in another post: "Even if you don’t believe in prayers don’t judge "other because they do. Aren’t we supposed to love and accept everybody for what they believe and who they are ??"
Another person chimed in, calling Ocasio-Cortez's tweet an "awful take," adding that it's "REALLY not the time to belittle people of faith."
Ocasio-Cortez attempted to clarify her comments in another tweet, saying her "'thoughts and prayers' is reference to the NRA’s phrase used to deflect conversation away from policy change during tragedies."
That wasn't enough for Republicans, who for months have continuously scrutinized Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described Democratic socialist. National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch responded, saying Ocasio-Cortez was mocking the act of prayer even after these attacks targeted places of worship.  READ MORE

Hell Is Real And It's No Joke

Death is a powerful reminder that we all have an 'appointment' in which we will leave this life and step out into the next one. This is the most-powerful presentation I have ever seen on the necessity of avoiding Hell. If this doesn't motivate you to start fervently praying for the lost people in  your life, then I don't think anything will.
