• Russian airstrikes hit multiple Ukrainian power stations overnight, along with water supply facilities
• Third of the country, including city of Kharkiv, was left without electricity while taps ran dry elsewhere
• Zelensky's adviser said strikes were 'coward's revenge' for humiliating rout of Russian troops in the east
• But president defiantly vowed that: 'We will be with gas, lights, water and food.. and WITHOUT you!'

• Russia blew up Ukrainian power plants overnight, plunging a third of the country into darkness in apparent revenge for its armies being routed in the east. 

  Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to President Zelensky, said strikes on Kharkiv's largest electric plant cut power in that region and Donetsk, and caused partial blackouts in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy. Separate strikes took out water supplies. Three people were killed in the explosions, Ukraine added.

  Mr Podolyak branded it 'a coward's response to the escape of [Russia's] own army from the battlefield' while Zelensky vowed: 'Cold, hunger, darkness and thirst - for us not as scary and deadly as your "friendship and brotherhood." History will put everything in place. And we will be with gas, lights, water... and WITHOUT you!'
