- They were apparently thrown overboard as U.S. warships closed in

Iran on Friday said it had released two American sea drones that it seized in the Red Sea in the latest maritime showdown involving the U.S. Navy's new water-borne drone fleet in the Middle East.
The showdown is the latest reminder of tensions between the United States and Iran, following exchanges of fire between American troops and Iranian-backed forces in Syria, and as the two counties close in on a new nuclear deal.
Iranian state television broadcast footage it said came from the deck of its Jamaran destroyer.
