At the exact moment Judas goes from being the man of sin to the son of perdition, the scripture sayeth that he immediately goes 'down and out into darkness', while the disciples are 'up in the air' with JesusMany people are puzzled, baffled and otherwise flummoxed when attempting to unravel the end times timeline for the Church given to us prophetically by our apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 in your King James Bible. Over the years, all sorts of crazy interpretations like the falling away is actually the Rapture, the Day of Christ and the Day of the Lord is talking about the same events, and every other type of Laodicean insanity have been put forth to try and make sense of these verses. Of course, you could always just compare scripture with scripture and rightly divide what you read, but that's too much work, who wants to do that? We do! "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 (KJB) Ok, Bible believers, let's do this by the numbers. Verse 1 is showing you our 'gathering together unto him', when you compare this to 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 you see clearly this is a reference to the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church. This also defines the term the 'day of Christ' that we see in verse 2 as also being a reference to the Rapture of the Church. Still with me? So far we haven't done much interpretation, all we have done is compare scripture with scripture. Verse 3, however, is where most Christians throw up their hands and say "we're not looking for Antichrist!!" and go back to watching cat videos on YouTube. Just what is Paul talking about when he says the 'man of sin' will be revealed just prior to the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church? To answer this perplexing (to some) question, the gospel of John has the answer. (Much of John is addressed to the Church Age, see for yourself here.)
