 Son of top Hamas leader is shot and killed by the Israeli army in his car during gun fight on the West Bank

• Conflict in the West Bank has soared since Hamas' October 7 assault on Israel

• Israeli forces shot and killed the son of a leader of Hamas in the West Bank in an early-morning raid on Friday.

  Muhammad Rasoul Daraghmeh was killed in the city of Tubas during a shootout with Israeli soldiers after they allegedly discovered automatic weapons in his car. 

  
  
  

  As The Israeli army claimed Daraghmeh had been planning attacks on Israeli targets but provided no evidence. It also said assailants hurled explosives at soldiers.

  Hamas confirmed the death of Daraghmeh and his affiliation with its Al Qassam Brigades.

  
  
  

  Daraghmeh, a local commander in his own right, was the son of Omar Daraghmeh, a West Bank leader who died in an Israeli prison following his detention after the October 7 attacks.
