US President Donald Trump has said if Hamas does not release all remaining hostages from Gaza by midday on Saturday, Israel should cancel the ceasefire and "let hell break out"
Ahead of a meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah later, Trump suggests he may withhold aid to Jordan and Egypt if they don't co-operate with his plan to take control of Gaza and resettle the population in the two countries
On Monday, Hamas said it would delay the release of Israeli hostages until further notice, accusing Israel of breaching the Gaza ceasefire agreement
Israel called the move a "complete violation" of the ceasefire deal, which began last month, and said its military was preparing at "the highest level of alert for any possible scenario in Gaza"
It's too early to say whether this carefully negotiated, staged process is about to collapse, but after a mostly positive start, the ceasefire is under increasing strain, writes the BBC's Paul Adams
In total, 17 Israeli hostages were still due to be released in the first phase of the ceasefire, eight of whom Israel says are dead. Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners have been freed by Israel so far.
