Khamenei: Time for new world order As Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi visits Iran for first time since 1979, Tehran's spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei makes scathing speech against West Dudi Cohen, Roi Kais "Iran's motto is nuclear energy for all, nuclear weapons for none," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared Thursday, in a speech welcoming Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi to Tehran. Morsi's visit was the first by an Egyptian leader to Iran in over three decades. Iran's state TV in a live broadcast showed Morsi being received with full red-carpet honors by Tehran's vice president in charge of executive affairs Hamid Baghaei in the capital's Mehrabad airport on Thursday. The world, Khamenei said "Is in transition towards a new international order and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) can and should play a new role." The summit (Photos: AFP) He further underlined the need for solidarity among all NAM member-states, saying it was an "obvious necessity" in the current era for establishing this new order. Khamenei stressed that Iran "will never pursue nuclear weapons but? will not give up right to nuclear energy," which he called the "given right of every country." Iran, he said, "regards the use of chemical weapons as an unforgivable sin, but it will not forego its right to use peaceful nuclear energy." The Ayatollah then accused the "Zionist regime's henchmen" of committing "any and all crimes" adding that it is aided by the West. NAM nations, he said, believe that the world should not be run "according to the western dictatorship of a handful of countries? This mechanism is unreasonable, unfair and undemocratic. "The United States and its allies talk about human rights when in fact they are talking about western interest? torture and assassinations are ignored if they are carried out by the United States or the Zionists," he stated. Khamenei further blamed the "Zionists" for "waging various wars, massacre and state-sponsored terrorism in the last decades." He blamed the western world for "supporting and defending the Zionist regime of Israel against the oppressed Palestinian nation. "Iran's called for solution to the Palestinian issue, calling for a "comprehensive referendum to be attended by all the indigenous residents of Palestine, including those refugees who have been away from their motherland for decades to determine the country's fate." The Iranian leader urged the White House leaders to revise their Middle Eastpolicy and "show courage and opt for the referendum solution" and stop what he called the US' "astronomical spending" on Israel. Ban at the summit UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who is attending the summit, did not protest in any way when Khamenei referred to Israeli leaders as "bloodthirsty wolves." "We must not fear the West," Khamenei concluded. 'UN members do not call for destruction'In his address before the summit, and without naming Iran, Ban denounced his hosts for threatening to destroy Israel and for denying the Holocaust. "I strongly reject threats by any member state to destroy another or outrageous attempts to deny historical facts such as the Holocaust," Ban said. "Claiming that Israel does not have the right to exist or describing it in racist terms is not only wrong but undermines the very principle we all have pledged to uphold," he added. 'We aspire for a better future'Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the summit next: He began by asking attendants to commemorate the memory of the slainnuclear scientists who were assassinated in Tehran in 2011 by observing a moment of silence. "We have come here together in order to study the situation and move towards a better future for our nations and humanity." He blamed "some countries" for controlling the world's wealth and leaving the rest to wallow in poverty, saying that many countries have great debt and tap into other nations' resources to cover it. He then blamed the United States for taking control of the "riches of other nations" illegally. "The beauty of human society has been systematically attacked and there is great effort to impose a certain kind of life on world nations that would leave them without social identity," he said. "Lasting peace and security is being turned into an unattainable wish? Why is that?" The Iranian president asked. Ahmadinejad stressed that "Arrogant powers are blatantly supporting terrorism," and further accused the UN Security Council of being "powerless before the nations that support the Zionist regime. "Some nations are warmongers and only care about their own interests and so they don't care and trample on basic human rights." World order, he continued, must change: "Global management must change and we all must stand up for that? If we wait for years than our time will also come to an end without being able to make a change in the right direction." Ahmadinejad urged countries worldwide to abandon "aspirations of monopoly and dominance and opt? for the joint management of world affairs." NAM, he said, can have a key role in world affairs and the Islamic Republic has a lot to offer the world in technology, finances and legislation. The UN is ready for NAM to help it in its reform and to help it "reach itss governing potential," he added. "If we tap into this great global movement and use it the right way we will be able to usher in a new beautiful era for humanity", he said. |

CHRISTIANS FORCED TO FLEE FROM MUSLIMS AGAIN, THIS TIME IN PAKISTAN!
Pakistan: Christians Forced To Flee To Wilderness To Escape Islamic Persecution.
AP – “ISLAMABAD (AP) – In the middle of a forest in the Pakistani capital, a group of Christians has cut down trees to clear land and has begun to build a church out of branches after leaving their neighborhood in fear when one of their own was accused of violating Pakistan’s strict blasphemy laws.
The roughly 100 men, women and children who slept overnight on the ground in a clearing just a few miles (kilometers) from the seat of the Pakistani government are fallout from the case of a young Christian girl accused by a neighbor of burning pages from Islam’s holy book, the Quran. The case has spotlighted attention on the country’s strict blasphemy laws which can result in life in prison or even death for those accused.
‘We used to come here to collect wood for fuel so we find it a suitable place for shelter,’ said Sumera Zahid, who was feeding her three children and her parents. ‘Here it is not anybody’s home, nobody’s land. Let us live here in safety.’
Their ordeal began a little less than two weeks ago when a Christian girl was accused by a neighbor of burning pages of the Quran. Much of the case is still in question including the girl’s age, whether she was mentally impaired and what exactly she was burning. But as word of the blasphemy accusation spread, hundreds of people gathered at her house demanding something be done to the girl. The police eventually arrested her and are investigating whether she broke any law.
The Associated Press is withholding the girl’s name; the AP does not generally identify juveniles under 18 who are accused of crimes.
Most Christians in the neighborhood fled, fearing retribution from their Muslim neighbors. Christian residents also reported that their landlords evicted them.
After living with relatives and in churches, many of the Christians arrived at this clearing on Sunday, determined to build a home.
‘We are thankful to the Lord for this land although here is no water and food but rest assured the Lord will create water fountains and provide all fruits here for you if you remain patient and suffer these hardship, thanking the Lord,’ said Pastor Arif Masih.” Read more.

New King James Version (NKJV)
17 “I see Him, but not now;
I behold Him, but not near;
A Star shall come out of Jacob;
A Scepter shall rise out of Israel,
And batter the brow of Moab,
And destroy all the sons of tumult.[a]
I behold Him, but not near;
A Star shall come out of Jacob;
A Scepter shall rise out of Israel,

18 “And Edom shall be a possession;
Seir also, his enemies, shall be a possession,
While Israel does valiantly.
19 Out of Jacob One shall have dominion,

ISRAEL TO BOMB IRAN IN WEEKS SAYS THE DAILY MAIL!!
Daily Mail UK: Israel Will Bomb Iran In Weeks, Netanyahu Running Out Of Patience With America
Rate This
By Michael Burleigh – “This summer has an ominous feel, like August 1914. In the Middle East, the Arab Spring has replaced several autocrats, not with Western-style liberals, but with the extremist Muslim Brotherhood.
The civil war raging in Syria is threatening to spill over into Lebanon and Jordan, and is really a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia to establish dominance over the region.
Meanwhile, looming in the background is the longer-term crisis caused by Iran’s devious and dogged pursuit of nuclear weapons…
For months there have been international discussions about the threat a nuclear Iran would present — most notably to its avowed enemy, Israel, which Iran has vowed to ‘erase from the map’…
But seeing no signs that slow-burning sanctions are effective, Israel is running out of patience — and is coming to the view it should no longer entrust others with its own security…
For their part, the Iranians are doing nothing to placate world fears about their nuclear ambitions.
Almost daily, the Iranians boast about new capabilities: high-powered speed boats — based on Britain’s 63mph Bradstone Challenger — designed to swarm enemy ships, and the upgraded Fateh-110 missile, which could hit U.S. bases and the two aircraft carrier groups massing in the Gulf…
Iranian weapons, including up to ten powerful Scud missiles, have been shipped via Syria to Hizbollah, which has an arsenal of more than 50,000 rockets capable of hitting much of Israel, many concealed in up to 100 fortified villages.
The Iranians also repeatedly trumpet their irrational hatred of Israel and Jews in general. Only last week, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed Israel would soon ‘disappear’, while President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad described it as ‘a cancerous tumour’…
… I am increasingly convinced that nothing will stop Israel. Shortly before the U.S. elections, and most likely in October, I believe Israel will launch air strikes on Iran.
The chilling prospect we face is that such an act of aggression risks turning into a Middle East conflict that would unite every regime in that volatile region in yet another — and this time uncontrollable — war.” Read more.
COULD HURRICANE ISAAC BE A WARNING TO AMERICA OVER ISRAEL?
Could Hurricane Isaac Be A Warning To America Over Israel?
5 Votes
Admittedly, similar thoughts have been going through my own mind lately …
“TAMPA, Fla. – Could Hurricane Isaac’s disrupting of the Republican convention here be tied to recent policy decisions by the GOP leadership and Barack Obama?
That question is being raised by Bible prophecy expert William Koenig, whose book, ‘Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel,’ links catastrophic hurricanes hitting the U.S. with changes in policy toward Israel.
Koenig points out that on Tuesday, the day Isaac formed as a tropical storm, the Republican platform committee voted to add a ‘two-state’ position pertaining to Israel for formal convention approval. Earlier, a pastor on the Republican platform committee offered an amendment for a one-state solution to the dispute between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs with no land concessions by the Jewish state.
But former Sen. Jim Talent, R-Mo., quoted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to demonstrate that the original platform language was consistent with the Israeli position. Talent was supported in his successful bid to defeat the amendment by Rep. Eric Cantor, the House majority leader, and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, better known as AIPAC.
‘This is the second straight Republican convention postponed due to a major hurricane,’ points out Koenig. ‘And this is the third straight Republican convention that became secondary news due to a hurricane. Bush was pressuring Israel during the times of the 2004 and 2008 conventions.’
Koenig links all three convention disruptions to platform committee decisions to support further division of the land of Israel to pave the way for the creation of a Palestinian state
Koenig also sees significance in the fact that Isaac, the name of Abraham’s son and Jacob’s father, is on a trajectory to hit New Orleans on the seventh anniversary of Katrina, putting gulf oil at risk. Oil companies in the area are already evacuating their crews. Jeff Master of Weather Underground reports Isaac is very similar in size to Hurricane Ike and on the same path. Ike hit Galveston and Houston in 2008. It was a $37 billion storm, the second costliest in history and only a Category 2 storm when it hit. The winds and the immense size of the storm caused massive damage.
Katrina, the deadliest and costliest hurricane in U.S. history, hit Aug. 29, 2005, after President George W. Bush urged Israel to withdraw from Gaza. Israeli rabbis and U.S. senators have made note of the historical links between calamitous U.S. storms and U.S. pressures on Israel to divide the land. In his book, Koenig points out that nine of the 10 costliest insurance events in U.S. history followed dramatic calls by U.S. officials for Israel to make land concessions in bids for peace with its neighbors. He points out with startling detail how six of the seven costliest hurricanes in U.S. history followed such events. He points out how three of the four largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history also followed such developments.
Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, even terrorist attacks have hit America often within 24 hours of calls by U.S. officials for Israel to withdraw from historically Jewish land.
What does this have to do with Bible prophecy?
It goes back to Genesis and God’s pledge to bless those who bless the children of Israel and curse those who curse them. It’s a prophecy that many Christians and Jews believe is behind the fall of all the world’s empires of the past. That is a prophecy that has seen every empire of the world come and go – yet Israel remains.
But, with regard to Isaac, there’s more to consider than the GOP platform decision. Koenig also sees significance in three other recent policy decisions by Obama’s White House.
As WND reported three days ago, Obama asked Palestinian leaders to delay any moves toward statehood until the presidential election is over, according to a senior Palestinian Authority official. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official told WND, the request was passed to PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ office by the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem.
It’s not the first time Obama has asked the PA to wait until after the election to make its move toward statehood, suggesting he would be freer to support the initiative if he is re-elected.
In addition, the Obama administration proclaimed last week that it still sees diplomacy as the solution to Iran’s bid for nuclear weapons. Israel has been debating a pre-emptive attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities in the wake of repeated threats by Iranian political and religious figures to annihilate the Jewish state.
Lastly, the Obama campaign has refused to distance itself from a radical female rabbi’s support for his re-election bid. Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb is one of 613 rabbis pledging support for Obama under the name ‘Rabbis for Obama.’ But she has called for a boycott against Israeli products, has dined with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and was the first American rabbi to visit Tehran.
Meanwhile, Gulf of Mexico operators on Sunday were bracing for the first hurricane in 2012 to affect the U.S. oil patch, which produces 23 percent of the U.S. oil output and 7 percent of the its natural gas.
Isaac, they say, could be the biggest test to U.S. energy infrastructure since 2008, when Hurricanes Gustav and Ike disrupted offshore oil output for months as well as damaged onshore natural gas processing plants and pipelines. Isaac could also impact the U.S. refinery row along the Gulf Coast, which stretches from Mississippi to south Texas and accounts from more than 40 percent of U.S. fuel output.” Source – WND.
Forbes: Tropical Storm Isaac Should Rival Hurricane Katrina – “On August 24th, we warned on Forbes that Tropical Storm Isaac could pose a threat to energy markets and even rival Hurricane Katrina in its destructive power. While the computer models are still showing a substantial spread in solutions, it appears more likely that Isaac will make landfall somewhere near the Louisiana, Mississippi Gulf Coast. This track will provide the storm more time to intensify over the very warm water of the Gulf of Mexico.” Read more.

WORLD WAR THREE COULD BEGIN WITHIN 6 MONTHS!!!
Washington Times Columnist Jeff Kuhner: World War III Will Begin Within Six Months

Joel 3:11-12, “Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, And gather yourselves there. Bring down, O LORD, Your mighty ones. Let the nations be aroused And come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, For there I will sit to judge All the surrounding nations.”
Radio Host: “We’ve got Israel and Iran rattling sabers, hugely, we’ve got the man in the White House — who has not made a single visit to Israel — he’s telling Israel to stand down until after the election. What’s the talk in Washington about this? I mean, we could be on the brink, literally, of World War III … this could be biblical in nature. What’s the talk in Washington?”
Jeff Kuhner: “Well, the talk in Washington is that the Israelis now see themselves as having a three to six-month window before Iran embarks upon a path that is irreversible in terms of them obtaining a nuclear bomb. They now realize, maybe by February or January at the absolute latest, if they do not strike Iran’s nuclear facilities their installations will be too deep underground, their program will be too advanced, by then it’s just a matter of time before Iran gets the bomb and once they get the bomb they will use it and annihilate Israel with it. And so now Iran realizes that Israel is on a war footing. And this is why they, in Tehran, are bracing for a military showdown. Both sides now know a war is inevitable.
What the Israelis are now calculating — and this is, I think, gonna be the most important dynamic of this entire election — is should they wait for a potential Romney victory or, if they sense that Obama is going to win, should they strike before the election, use maximum leverage from Obama because he will need the Jewish-American vote, he will need … at least some part of the Evangelical-Protestant vote to win, and so … the thinking in Israel is now Obama will need our support or the support of Israel’s friends. After November, he’s in for a full second term, he can throw Israel to the wolves. And so I think the Israelis are looking at the election, they’re now looking at the polls. They may wait until January for a Romney administration if they feel confident enough that Romney will win [because January is when Romney will have power]. But if by mid-September or late-September … if they sense there’s a real possibility that Obama will win, then they will have no choice but to strike because if they strike after November then Obama will give them no diplomatic cover, they will have no support, they will be completely isolated on the world stage, and the Israelis know that will be the death of them. They know clearly that without America’s support they cannot sustain a serious long war, not just with Iran, but with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, with Hamas in Gaza, with Hezbollah in Lebanon, with most likely an empowered Muslim Brotherhood in Syria.Israel is now literally encircled and surrounded by their enemies. And so if America goes to [elect] an Obama Administration for a second term, then Israel’s goose is cooked…
You see, the key point to remember about Obama is this. He truly is the son of his father… He is truly an anti-Western, anti-colonial socialist leftist. And in his mind, it is the European powers, the Western powers, who are responsible for the exploitation and impoverishment of the third world, and for him the third world also encompasses the Muslim world, the Arab world. And so in his view Israel is like Europe and America. Israel is an imperial power. Israel is the source of all the problems in the Middle East. That’s why, you’ve noticed, he’s never gone to Israel on a visit. But he’s gone to Saudi Arabia. He went to Cairo. He extends his hand to the Muslim world, but he won’t to the Jews and to the people of Israel because, in his mind, if you can get rid of the Israeli-Jewish problem, this will bring peace and harmony to the Middle East …” Listen to the full radio interview here.

IS ISRAEL PLANNING AN EMP ATTACK ON IRAN BY F.MICHAEL MALOOF ON WND.
FROM JOSEPH FARAH'S G2 BULLETIN
Is Israel planning EMP attack on Iran?
Tehran nearing 'zone of immunity' against conventional assault on nuclear sites
F. Michael Maloof, staff writer for WND and G2Bulletin, is a former senior security policy analyst in the office of the secretary of defense.

WASHINGTON – Analysts say because Israel now believes diplomacy has failed to halt Iran’s nuclear program and the Jewish state’s very survival is at stake, Israelis have not ruled out a Jericho III missile launch to detonate a single electromagnetic pulse warhead at high altitude over central Iran.
The assessment is underscored by recent comments from Israeli officials that the Islamic republic is reaching its “zone of immunity” from conventional military attack on its nuclear sites.
In addition, analysts point out the use of long-range aircraft with refueling capability would be highly complex and pose many logistical problems. Israel also probably would not be allowed overflight permission from Turkey, Iraq or Saudi Arabia to reach its Iranian targets. Further, such an approach would minimize any element of surprise.
Meanwhile, top religious and political officials in Iran have issued repeated warnings they plan to obliterate the Jewish state. Israel has made an assessment that Iran is on the threshold of a breakthrough to make a nuclear weapon. However, some national security experts, including some in the United States, believe Iran is several years away from making such a device. And they say actual weaponization – the ability to miniaturize a nuclear bomb to fit on its nuclear-capable missiles – still is further off.
Debate over just how close Iran may be to making a nuclear weapon has raised the issue of the quality of the intelligence to back Israeli claims. Sources point to the example of the intelligence used to assess Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction that prompted the U.S. to attack Iraq in March 2003.
With Iran continuing its enrichment program, however, Israel and some Western countries are concerned that the amount of low-level uranium it has enriched could be enriched further to some 90 percent purity – which is what is required to make nuclear weapons. U.S. officials don’t assess that Iran has reached that point.
Given that Iranian sites may be hardened against a conventional military attack, several Israeli and foreign sources believe that Israel has a nuclear device to create an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, that would produce little radiation on the ground but could knock out all of Iran’s electronics.
Israel also is assessed to be able to launch nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles from its German-supplied Dolphin electric submarines that could carry a one-kiloton or more device and explode over Iran, effectively neutralizing all of Iran’s electronics.
This would include Iran’s command and control capabilities and its ability to launch ballistic missiles in retaliation to a pre-emptive Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, which Western intelligence has assessed is a cover to make nuclear weapons. Sources say that an Israeli EMP attack also would effectively halt Iran’s ability to launch its forces to block the Strait of Hormuz, which the Islamic republic has threatened to do if it is attacked, along with targeting a number of U.S. military facilities in the region, as well as Israel.
An electromagnetic pulse occurs following a nuclear weapon exploded at a high altitude, creating a very strong electrical field that can overwhelm all electronics, knocking out or seriously damaging any electronic devices connected to power sources or antennas, including communications equipment, computers, electrical appliances, automobile and aircraft ignitions systems. Experts say it also can adversely affect a person’s implanted heart pacemaker device.
The effect from an EMP would be very similar to electronics in a near lightning strike or a solar storm which also can affect electronics but on a lesser scale than a pulse from a high-altitude nuclear explosion.
Another scenario discussed among some Israeli leaders is the detonation of an EMP over the entire Middle East, including Israel, whose military infrastructure has been hardened against such attacks. This would allow Israel to fly its jets directly to Iran without concerns about detection. Though it would also turn out the lights in Israel, sources there say the Jewish state could bring power back for civilians in a matter of days. A detonation at an altitude of up to 250 miles not only would affect all electronics in Iran but could damage electrical systems from the Middle East and much of Europe, these experts add. Such an EMP event also would dramatically affect all U.S. military facilities in the region.
An EMP attack on the United States, for example, from a 30-kiloton nuclear weapon exploded at an altitude of 62 miles, or 100 kilometers, effectively would knock out 70 percent of electrical systems up to a thousand miles in every direction. A similar explosion at a higher altitude of some 250 miles would virtually affect all electronics from Boston to Los Angeles and from Chicago to New Orleans, according to experts.
Consequently, a detonation limited to Iran would have to be at a much lower altitude to avoid such far-ranging effects on the electronics in the region and beyond.
According to U.S. intelligence sources, Israel not only possesses nuclear devices of one kiloton or more which would be sufficient to create an effective result from an electromagnetic pulse but has Jericho III missiles which it tested in 2009 capable of carrying nuclear payloads some 2,500 miles. The distance between Israel and Iran is approximately 1,000 miles. U.S. sources knowledgeable about ways to “harden” buildings and other facilities against an EMP attack say business in this area has been booming throughout the Middle East for months. In recent weeks, U.S. intelligence officials have told WND/G2Bulletin that they have detected Israel handling propellants for its Jericho missiles.
The prospect that Israel has this capability was first made known by an ex-CIA case officer, Chet Nagle, at a Capitol Hill EMPact America press conference held in Washington, D.C., in November 2011.
A similar prospect was outlined in a Nov. 10, 2011, Front Page Magazine article, “Connecting the Nuclear Dots on Iran,” written by Kenneth Timmerman who is the president of the Foundation for Democracy in Iran and maintains close ties with the Iranian opposition.
“Any Israeli attack on Iran is sure to make of Israel an international pariah, Nagle argues,” Timmerman said in quoting Nagle in a conversation. “Plus, the likelihood of success – that is, in destroying or disabling all of Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities (by conventional means) so they have nothing to launch on the morning after the attack – is low.
“If you’re going to go to all that trouble and be a pariah,” Timmerman quoted Nagel as saying in their conversation, “why not take one of those Jericho missiles, and detonate it 300 miles above the surface and deliver an EMP strike on Iran? That would stop their clock – if it’s electric – as well as all those centrifuges and everything else. Then the Greens can take over the country and we can go back in and rebuild the grid.”
The prospect for this doomsday approach has arisen due to a comment made by Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak last February that Iran was entering a “zone of immunity” from military attack. Other officials in recent days have suggested that such a “zone of immunity” will be reached before the end of the year.
“The world, including the current U.S. administration, understands and accepts that Israel necessarily views the threat differently than they do, and that ultimately, Israel is responsible for taking the decisions related to its future, its security and its destiny,” Barak said.
Given that this “zone of immunity” could be reached before the end of the year, there has been increasing speculation in recent days that Israel may launch an attack prior to the U.S. presidential elections in an effort to force the U.S. to act. Sources say that the Israelis have assessed that if President Obama is re-elected, he may want to continue down the path of negotiating with the Iranians. The sources add that by attacking prior to the U.S. elections in November, the U.S. then will have no choice but to back Israel due to the U.S. commitment to ensure Israel’s security. They add that it also will help Obama’s re-election efforts.
Iran, however, insists that its nuclear development program is for peaceful purposes as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and as a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Under the terms of the NPT, Iran has the “right” to enrich uranium as it is doing. Iran has enriched up to 20 percent, which is more than enough for refueling its nuclear reactors but is considered an acceptable level for medical research. As early as 2005, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a fatwa, or religious decree, that is a legal pronouncement in Islam, that the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons are forbidden under Islam and that the Islamic republic “shall never acquire these weapons.” Last February, Khamenei reiterated his 2005 fatwa.
“The Iranian nation has never pursued and will never pursue nuclear weapons,” he said. “There is no doubt that the decision makers in the countries opposing us know well that Iran is not after nuclear weapons because the Islamic republic, logically, religiously and theoretically, considers the possession of nuclear weapons a grave sin and believes the proliferation of such weapons is senseless, destructive and dangerous.”
Sources say that the edict from Khamenei is considered more than a fatwa, given that he not only is an ayatollah but also the supreme leader of Iran. For that reason, what he said is considered a hukm, or decree of the Supreme Jurisprudent, or Vali-yi Faqih, that determines the legal framework of the Islamic republic in accordance with Islamic law.
