An impressive list indeed, and Phil is also a noted speaker at conferences and many other occasions.

FORMER Treorchy rugby player Phil Davies – once known as “Ming The Merciless” – has now penned several novels. Years after becoming a Christian and a marketing guru, Ton Pentre- based Phil spent five years writing the legal thriller Blood on their Hands.

He is presently the chief executive of the charity Sporting Marvels which forges links with schools and churches within Rhondda. Happily married to Benita with five children, grandfather Phil, was part of the Treorchy RFC team in the 1980s.

Phil founded Sporting Marvels in 2002 after being called out of a lucrative off-field career in professional Rugby Union where he was the architect of the Treorchy “Dream” before going on to hold some of the biggest jobs in Welsh and British rugby. The vision to put a positive Christian role model in front of every school pupil in Rhondda was timely, with less than 0.9% of Rhondda’s population regularly attending church according to the 2001 census, and it still burns brightly in his heart today.

Ukraine war: Russia hits back with fresh attacks against Ukraine after Kyiv attack on border city

Russia launched fresh strikes against Ukraine in the early hours of New Year's Eve, just a day after vowing to retaliate for what it called a 'terrorist attack' on the city of Belgorod.

Several Iranian-made 'Shahed' drones targeted Ukraine's northeastern city of Kharkiv overnight, according to local authorities, as the two sides have taken turns accusing each other of pummelling civilian areas of their shared frontier over the weekend.

'As a result of the night attack of Russian drones on Kharkiv, buildings in the city centre were damaged. These are not military facilities, but cafes, residential buildings and offices,' the city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov, wrote on Telegram, without mentioning casualties.

'On the eve of the New Year, Russians want to intimidate our city, but we are not scared.'

The strike follows the deadliest attack on civilians in Russia since the start of the conflict in February 2022.

The Day Of The Lord - Part Two

Remember that the Hebrew Scriptures are just as relevant as the New Testament. All of the Bible is the word of God. Remember that when the Disciples went out, sharing the gospel - they didn't have a Bible that included the 'New Testament'. They only had the Hebrew books that we often call the Old Testament.

Furthermore, most of what we know about the Last Days, comes from the Hebrew Scriptures. And, I think that we have done ourselves a great disservice by ignoring what the prophets had to say. And, let's not forget that God demonstrates who He is by what He says in the first 24 books of the Bible.

INTENSE GUN BATTLES REPORTED IN SOUTHERN GAZA AS UN WARNS OVER AID

Fierce Israeli tank fire and air strikes have been continuing in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, which Israel sees as a stronghold of Hamas. Residents have reported intense gun battles between Israeli troops and Hamas fighters there

  1. The Israeli army says it's struck targets across Gaza over the past 24 hours, and its troops have killed "dozens of terrorists" in Gaza City
  2. As Israeli ground operations drive tens of thousands of people to flee, there are reports of an increased spread of diseases.
  3. The UN has complained that the volume of aid reaching the territory remains "woefully inadequate". Israel insists it’s not limiting it and that the problem is with its distribution
  4. At least 1,200 people were killed when Hamas militants attacked Israel on 7 October and about 240 others were taken hostage
  5. The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 21,500 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel started its retaliatory campaign.
  6. Humanitarian needs in Gaza 'continue to massively grow' - UN

The director of the UN aid agency UNRWA, Juliette Touma, has been telling the BBC "the humanitarian needs on the ground have continued to massively grow".

"We continue to have restrictions to access areas in the Gaza Strip where we should access on a regular basis, like the north of the Gaza Strip.

"There's very, very little commercial supplies coming into Gaza and there's no market, so more and more people are depending by the day, by the hour, on organisations like UNRWA.

"It’s safe to say that every single person in Gaza, a population of 2.2 million people is impacted one way or another."

Israel says it’s not limiting aid, and that the problem lies with its distribution.

  7. IDF says troops engaging in 'fierce battles'

In a morning update, the Israeli military says its navy and air force has hit targets throughout the Gaza Strip and its troops have been engaging in "fierce battles".

It says its forces in Gaza City killed "dozens of terrorists" over the past day in several battles.

Soldiers also destroyed two buildings used by Hamas in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, the IDF says.

This comes as Palestinians have been reporting intense Israeli tank fire and bombardments in Khan Younis in southern Gaza overnight.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said that 187 people were killed in strikes in a 24-hour period.
