A Biblical Overview Of Daniel - Part 2

I find it interesting that God does grant visions and prophetic dreams to those who are not followers of Him. Jacob was given a prophetic dream by God before he was a follower of the Lord. Laban was met by God in a dream. Pharaoh The wife of Pontius Pilate was troubled with dreams that declared Jesus to be just. Cornelius was given a dream to send for Peter. And even today, there have been Muslims who were given dreams by God, to seek out Christians to hear the gospel and receive salvation.

And, in my own 28 years in Asia, I have seen things that defy the imagination. God truly works in mysterious ways.

Also, notice one other thing that is very important:

Not only was Nebuchadnezzar given the dream, but he was given such a driving need to understand the dream - so much so that he was willing to destroy his imperial bureaucracy ('the wise men') to get someone to tell him the dream and interpret it.

That is a truly incredible compulsion that God placed upon Nebuchadnezzar. And, it illustrates the character of dreams given by God. They are like no other dream or hallucination that we might have.

I know someone whose life was saved, when he was told to avoid a certain room where he was working, at a certain time of day. When that room exploded with life-killing force, it was confirmation that the dream was real.
