Home Secretary James Cleverly tells pro-Palestine protesters to STOP their Gaza rallies because they've 'made their point'
- UK police forces are said to have spent £30million patrolling protests last year
The Home Secretary has told pro-Palestine protesters to stop their Gaza rallies claiming they have 'made their point' and are putting a 'huge pressure' on police resources.
James Cleverly said the demonstrations, which are now taking place every fortnight in the capital, need to stop as they are 'not really saying anything new'.
'I think the organisers should recognise that they've made their point, they've made it loudly and they're not adding to it by repeating themselves,' he said.
The call comes just days after former Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson was suspended for his comments about the regular protests, claiming London Mayor Sadiq Khan was 'controlled by Islamists'.
Meanwhile, the National Police Chiefs' Council revealed that police forces had spent nearly £30million patrolling the protests since Hamas launched its attack on Israel on October 7 last year.
