Saudis ‘Would Let Israeli Jets Use Their Air Space To Attack Iran’

Saudi Arabia is prepared to let Israeli fighter jets use its airspace if it proves necessary to attack Iran’s nuclear program, an Israeli TV station reported Tuesday, highlighting growing ties in the shadow of Tehran’s nuclear drive.

Riyadh’s only condition is that Israel make some kind of progress in peace talks with the Palestinians, Channel 2 reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed senior European source.

“The Saudi authorities are completely coordinated with Israel on all matters related to Iran,” the European official in Brussels said.

Jerusalem and Riyadh do not have diplomatic ties, but unconfirmed reports have swirled for years of coordination between them against the common enemy of Iran, a partnership that may ramp up should the world powers reach a reportedly emerging deal that would allow Tehran to continue enriching some uranium.

The report claimed the Saudi authorities had made their position clear in various unspecified diplomatic discussions on the matter.

“The Saudis have declared their readiness for the Israeli Air Force to overfly Saudi air space en route to attack Iran if an attack is necessary,” the TV report said. All that they ask is “some kind of progress” on the Palestinian issue.

Being able to use Saudi airspace would allow Israeli planes a shortcut to reach Iran without having to fly around the Persian Gulf, taking up precious time and fuel.

According to the dispatch, Israel and Saudi Arabia also share intelligence on Iran’s nuclear program at a very intimate level and the Saudis are no less worried by details coming out of the Geneva talks than Israeli leaders, who have loudly spoken out against the talks.

Tuesday’s report comes amid increased tensions between the White House and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over how best to tackle Tehran’s nuclear program.

Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States and Germany — known as the P5+1 — have been seeking a comprehensive accord with Iran that would prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear bomb in return for an easing of economic sanctions.

Netanyahu has warned repeatedly that the Islamic Republic must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, although Iranian officials insist the nuclear program is purely for civilian use.

There is a heightened sense of urgency as the clock ticks down towards a March 31 deadline to agree on a political framework for the deal.

Islamic State in Syria abducts at least 90 from Christian villages: monitor By Suleiman Al-Khalidi AMMAN Tue Feb 24, 2015 10:13am EST (Reuters) - Islamic State militants have abducted at least 90 people from Assyrian Christian villages in northeastern Syria, a monitoring group that tracks violence in Syria said on Tuesday. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the militants carried out dawn raids on rural villages inhabited by the ancient Christian minority west of Hasaka, a city mainly held by the Kurds. Syrian Kurdish militia launched two offensives against the militants in northeast Syria on Sunday, helped by U.S.-led air strikes and Iraqi peshmerga. This part of Syria is strategically important in the fight against Islamic State because it borders territory controlled by the group in Iraq, where it last year committed atrocities against the minority religious Yazidi community. Many Assyrian Christians have emigrated in the nearly four-year-long conflict in which more than 200,000 have people have been killed. Before the arrival of Kurds and Arab nomadic tribes at the end of the 19th century, Christians formed the majority in Syria's Jazeera area, which includes Hasaka. Sunday's offensive by Kurdish YPG militia reached within 5 km (3 miles) of Tel Hamis, an Islamic State controlled town south east of Qamishli, the Observatory said. At least 14 IS fighters died in the offensive, which involved Assyrian fighters, and eight civilians were also killed in heavy shelling by the Kurdish side which seized several Arab villages from Islamic State control, the monitoring group said. Last year, Islamic State fighters abducted several Assyrians in retaliation for some of them fighting alongside the YPG. Most were released after long negotiations. RELIEVING PRESSURE Military experts following Syria said Islamic State was trying to open a new front to relieve pressure on the group after the string of losses since being driven from the Syrian town of Kobani near the border with Turkey. "Islamic State are losing in several areas so they want to wage an attack on a new area," said retired Jordanian general Fayez Dwiri. Since driving IS from Kobani, Kurdish forces, backed by other Syrian armed groups, have pursued the group's fighters as far as their provincial stronghold of Raqqa. A resident of Hasaka, which is jointly held by the Syrian government and the Kurds, said hundreds of families had arrived in the last few days from surrounding Christian villages and of Arab Bedouin refugees were arriving from areas along the border. Christian Forgiveness Trumps ISIS' Hate and Evil: Coptic Christians Remember ISIS Victims as Martyrs, while Top Leader Forgives Terror Group

According to Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D., of Breitbart,Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II said that the names of the beheaded Christians will be inserted into the Coptic Synaxarium, also known as the church's official list of Martyrs. The procedure is similar to that of canonization in the Latin Church.

"An icon of the 21 martyrs, drawn by Tony Rezk, will be the official image to commemorate their supreme witness," Williams wrote.

Beshir Kamel, 32, said that he was proud of his brothers Bishoy and Samuel, who were two of the victims in the ISIS video, which was released on Feb. 15.

"ISIS gave us more than we asked when they didn't edit out the part where they declared their faith and called upon Jesus Christ. ISIS helped us strengthen our faith," Kamel said.

Kamel added that their martyrdom was "a badge of honor to Christianity." According to Williams, he even thanked the terror group for including "their Christian witness" in the videos before killing them in cold blood.

Williams reported that Kamel made the comments in an interview with SAT 7-ARABIC that went viral. The Coptic Christian was asked what he would do if he saw an ISIS militant, and he recalled his mother's response.

"My mother, an uneducated woman in her sixties, said she would ask [him] to enter her house and ask God to open his eyes because he was the reason her son entered the Kingdom of Heaven," Kamel said.

"I felt peace knowing that they died as martyrs in the name of Christ," Kamel said. Of course, the first reaction was sadness at being separated from family."

Malsin reported that Christianity considers a person a martyr if they die because of their faith. Many of the recent martyrs have come from Coptic Christians in Egypt, who make up between 10 and 20 percent of Egypt's population.

"The ISIS victims are depicted next to the throne of Jesus on banners, which are suspended inside and outside the church in Al-Our," Malsin wrote.

As to why the Egyptian Christians went to Libya in the first place, Kamel told Malsin that his brothers were searching for work, which was unavailable in their village. Malsin reported that the average resident in his village earned between the equivalent of $3 and $4 a day.

"It's a hard life," Kamel said. "If you don't work all day, you don't eat at night."

Despite the harsh persecution exercised by ISIS against Coptic Christians and other minority groups, Carol Kuruvilla of the Huffington Post reported that Bishop Angaelos, the leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom, indicated that he was willing to forgive the ISIS militants involved in the beheadings.

"We don't forgive the act because the act is heinous. But we do forgive the killers from the depths of our hearts," Angaelos said.

Iraqi Army Downs 2 UK Planes Carrying Weapons for ISIL

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iraq's army has shot down two British planes as they were carrying weapons for the ISIL terrorists in Al-Anbar province, a senior lawmaker disclosed on Monday.

"The Iraqi Parliament's National Security and Defense Committee has access to the photos of both planes that are British and have crashed while they were carrying weapons for the ISIL," Head of the committee Hakem al-Zameli said, according to a Monday report of the Arabic-language information center of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq.

He said the Iraqi parliament has asked London for explanations in this regard.

The senior Iraqi legislator further unveiled that the government in Baghdad is receiving daily reports from people and security forces in al-Anbar province on numerous flights by the US-led coalition planes that airdrop weapons and supplies for ISIL in terrorist-held areas.

The Iraqi lawmaker further noted the cause of such western aids to the terrorist group, and explained that the US prefers a chaotic situation in Anbar Province which is near the cities of Karbala and Baghdad as it does not want the ISIL crisis to come to an end.

Earlier today, a senior Iraqi provincial official lashed out at the western countries and their regional allies for supporting Takfiri terrorists in Iraq, revealing that US and Israeli-made weapons have been discovered from the areas purged of ISIL terrorists.

"We have discovered weapons made in the US, European countries and Israel from the areas liberated from ISIL's control in Al-Baqdadi region," the Al-Ahad news website quoted Head of Al-Anbar Provincial Council Khalaf Tarmouz as saying.

He noted that the weapons made by the European countries and Israel were discovered from the terrorists in the Eastern parts of the city of Ramadi.

Al-Zameli had also disclosed in January that the anti-ISIL coalition's planes have dropped weapons and foodstuff for the ISIL in Salahuddin, Al-Anbar and Diyala provinces.

Al-Zameli underlined that  the coalition is the main cause of ISIL's survival in Iraq.

"There are proofs and evidence for the US-led coalition's military aid to ISIL terrorists through air(dropped cargoes)," he told FNA in January.

He noted that the members of his committee have already proved that the US planes have dropped advanced weaponry, including anti-aircraft weapons, for the ISIL, and that it has set up an investigation committee to probe into the matter.

"The US drops weapons for the ISIL on the excuse of not knowing about the whereabouts of the ISIL positions and it is trying to distort the reality with its allegations.

He noted that the committee had collected the data and the evidence provided by eyewitnesses, including Iraqi army officers and the popular forces, and said, "These documents are given to the investigation committee ... and the necessary measures will be taken to protect the Iraqi airspace."

Also in January, another senior Iraqi legislator reiterated that the US-led coalition is the main cause of ISIL's survival in Iraq.

"The international coalition is only an excuse for protecting the ISIL and helping the terrorist group with equipment and weapons," Jome Divan, who is member of the al-Sadr bloc in the Iraqi parliament, said.

He said the coalition's support for the ISIL is now evident to everyone, and continued, "The coalition has not targeted ISIL's main positions in Iraq."

In late December, Iraqi Parliamentary Security and Defense Commission MP disclosed that a US plane supplied the ISIL terrorist organization with arms and ammunition in Salahuddin province.

MP Majid al-Gharawi stated that the available information pointed out that US planes are supplying ISIL organization, not only in Salahuddin province, but also other provinces, Iraq TradeLink reported.

He added that the US and the international coalition are "not serious in fighting against the ISIL organization, because they have the technological power to determine the presence of ISIL gunmen and destroy them in one month".

Gharawi added that "the US is trying to expand the time of the war against the ISIL to get guarantees from the Iraqi government to have its bases in Mosul and Anbar provinces."

Salahuddin security commission also disclosed that "unknown planes threw arms and ammunition to the ISIL gunmen Southeast of Tikrit city".

Also in Late December, a senior Iraqi lawmaker raised doubts about the seriousness of the anti-ISIL coalition led by the US, and said that the terrorist group still received aids dropped by unidentified aircraft.

"The international coalition is not serious about air strikes on ISIL terrorists and is even seeking to take out the popular (voluntary) forces from the battlefield against the Takfiris so that the problem with ISIL remains unsolved in the near future," Nahlah al-Hababi told FNA.

"The ISIL terrorists are still receiving aids from unidentified fighter jets in Iraq and Syria," she added.

Hababi said that the coalition's precise airstrikes are launched only in those areas where the Kurdish Pishmarga forces are present, while military strikes in other regions are not so much precise.

In late December, the US-led coalition dropped aids to the Takfiri militants in an area North of Baghdad.

Field sources in Iraq told al-Manar that the international coalition airplanes dropped aids to the terrorist militants in Balad, an area which lies in Salahuddin province North of Baghdad.

In October, a high-ranking Iranian commander also slammed the US for providing aid supplies to ISIL, adding that the US claims that the weapons were mistakenly airdropped to ISIL were untrue.

“The US and the so-called anti-ISIL coalition claim that they have launched a campaign against this terrorist and criminal group - while supplying them with weapons, food and medicine in Jalawla region (a town in Diyala Governorate, Iraq). This explicitly displays the falsity of the coalition's and the US' claims,” Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said.

The US claimed that it had airdropped weapons and medical aid to Kurdish fighters confronting the ISIL in Kobani, near the Turkish border in Northern Syria.

The US Defense Department said that it had airdropped 28 bundles of weapons and supplies, but one of them did not make it into the hands of the Kurdish fighters.

Video footage later showed that some of the weapons that the US airdropped were taken by ISIL militants.

The Iranian commander insisted that the US had the necessary intelligence about ISIL's deployment in the region and that their claims to have mistakenly airdropped weapons to them are as unlikely as they are untrue.

And the fighting is still ongoing in Tel Tamar. In the process an estimated 117 Christians, elderly, women and children were kidnapped by ISIS.

Preparations for Psalm 83: Yes, Jordan Too

Things seem to be much further along than I first thought.  In my last post Preparations for Psalm 83? I wrote,

“What of the remaining four peoples – Ammon, Moab, Edom and the Hagrites?  Today these are all peoples of western Jordan.  If we are in fact seeing the Psalm 83 war preparations come to pass right in front of our eyes, we should expect that Iran manages to have a working relationship with people in Jordan.  Since Jordan and Iran have cut off relations, there would need to be a significant change in the status of Jordan.  This could either happen by these peoples taking leadership of the country away from the monarchy (i.e., a coup d’état) or these people working silently behind the scenes with Iran, like Shia groups do in eastern Saudi Arabia.”

A reader thankfully pointed to a rather astonishing news development in Jordan that I had missed.  I confess I have not been watching Jordan closely because of the lack of news headlines coming out of what up to now has been a rather stable Arab nation; that is, stable for the Mideast.  This façade is also reflected in this article where it states,

“Bordering the attention-grabbing countries of Israel, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Jordan is sometimes overlooked by the media and by policy experts because of its peace with Israel, its close alliance with the United States, and its relatively liberal socio-economic system.”

There is a man named Mudar Zahran who is working for the overthrow of the monarchy in Jordan.  He is secular and unfortunately has to ally with more radical elements in Jordan.

Digging deeper into the situation in Jordan, I ran across this article from the Middle East Quarterly dated from two years ago.  It seems to be a fairly good summary of what is going on in Jordan, and interestingly is written by Mr. Zahran.  The following caught my eye in the article:

“The Hashemites’ discriminatory policies against the Palestinians have been overlooked by the West, Washington in particular, for one main reason: the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was the beating heart of Palestinian politics, and thus, if the Palestinians were empowered, they might topple the Hashemites and transform Jordan into a springboard for terror attacks against Israel. This fear was not all that farfetched.”

Wow.  It seems that underneath that façade of relative calm enforced by the Hashemite monarchy in the country that is Jordan (see what a nice place Jordan is in Wikipedia) there is a bubbling cauldron.  This makes sense.  Many governments that have suppressed a majority population treated as second-class citizens end up being overthrown.  One needs to look no further than the former apartheid government of South Africa.

I give the Jordanian monarchy a break though – the monarchy did not come to power unfairly and start ruling the Palestinians, no, the monarchy ruled its own people, the Bedouins, and it is the Palestinians who came over as refugees from Israel following the Arab-Israeli wars and flooded Jordan.  In fact, the current king is the great-grandson of Abdullah I who was the ruler of Mecca under the Ottoman Empire and then was given Jordan to rule as a prize by the British.  That family has been ruling Jordan for almost a century.

The takeaway from what the ME Quarterly article shows is that, yes, indeed if the Palestinians did take over the government in Jordan, the last pieces of preparations for Psalm 83 would fall into place.  Jordan would be wholly Palestinian, allied with and receiving aid from Iran.  Just imagine an enemy of Israel like Fatah or Hamas, but ruling a country that borders Israel entirely across its eastern border.  With this development in Jordan being quite possible, it is also truly astonishing that each and every people in Psalm 83 is taking its place piece-by-piece allied with Iran and against Israel.  And if the Second Signpost begins later this year, than the transformation of Jordan would have to take place this year in 2015.

But God has declared in Psalm 83 that Israel would win a stunning victory against the enemies that surround her.  Let us pray for Israel; that this scenario is indeed the Psalm 83 war – for Israel will be given a great victory such that many will learn who the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is.  And if all this is so, this would likely mean an Israel with enlarged territory and an emboldened sense to build the Third Temple.  This would be the Israel that would later enter the Tribulation.
