The Coming Break-up of the European Union
In The Spirit of Prophecy I predicted the break-up of the European Union as far back as 2009. One doesn’t have to be a prophet to see that the EU isn’t working, and can’t work in its present form. You can’t have a country where one region works, and the other regions take from the workers, to support millions of deadbeats. Sooner or later people will get fed-up, and there will be a revolt!
I was also looking at how this entity will fit into the bible’s End Times prophecies, and it is obvious that it doesn’t fit in its present form. Well, it could fit, but I think it will be more useful to Satan if it breaks-up into two or more “daughter” unions.
I am specifically thinking that one of those unions will contain ten European nations.
Other prophecy scholars will tell you that this ten-nation-confederacy is the ten nations of Revelation 17-18, and its leader is the Antichrist. I am here to tell you that it is not, and he is not!
In the Spirit of Prophecy I speculated that there would be an east-west division of the EU. That was merely speculation, and I am no longer thinking that the coming division will be only east-west, but also north-south. The economic engine of Europe is Germany, England and France, with the former Eastern Block countries of Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania also playing a role.
The nations commonly referred to as the PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and Spain) are the ones who are a drain on the Union.
Greece, with their leftist Syriza government, and their demands for more war reparations payments from Germany, seventy years after the end of the second World War, is putting more pressure on the EU. Think about it; Germany has already paid reparations to Greek families who lost loved ones, and all the guilty perpetrators are long dead. Any German soldiers still living are in their eighties or older.
Why punish a nation for the sins of its grandfathers? Nothing Germany now has is the result of profiteering from their attack on Greece. Germany profits today because its industries and workers work hard to produce quality products from which the world benefits.
The problem with the Greek leftists is the same as leftists the world over; they do not understand that wealth comes from human labour. When you take wealth from someone else, you destroy their incentive to work, and ultimately destroy your own economy. This is why Muslim nations are still using slavery today. Their religion teaches them that they do not need to work, but should be able to benefit from the work of others! This also explains why 80% of European Muslims are living on welfare payments; they consider it jizya, a tax on non-Muslims!
Here’s the thing; the mindset of leftists the world over, is virtually the same as that of Muslims. Essentially that “The world owes me a living”! We can see this in the black racist groups of the United States, where they are teaching their children that “because white men enslaved your ancestors, some 150 years ago,now whites owe you a living”!
It is this same entitlement mentality that is destroying Greece. I would not be surprised to see Greece become the first nation to be kicked out of the EU.
But these are human, and logical reasons. The over all reason is that God is in control, and not only this, but God uses Satan to accomplish His goals. No matter how hard he tries, Satan always ends up supporting God’s program.
Would Satan want Europe to break down into two or more daughter associations? Undoubtedly, yes! Everyone knows about the ten-nation-confederacy of Revelation 17, but not everyone understands which group of nations this refers to. Satan wants to keep people confused, or focusing on the wrong group of nations.
Satan also benefits from people’s desires to have the worst over. So, he will give them the wrong ten-nation-confederacy, and lead that confederacy into a major war under a dictator; A war many will identify as Armageddon. Then he can destroy the dictator and the confederacy in this war, and the world will be looking for a saviour, which he will be happy to supply.
This is what the bible says, after all; that after Armageddon, Jesus Christ will return. Only, instead of Jesus Christ returning after this particular war, another world leader will rise, and because they want to believe this is a man of God, the world’s professing Christians will allegorize the return of Christ, and profess that this man is here “in the Spirit of Christ”.
This is what happens when you start allegorizing Scripture; there is nothing to stop you but your own imagination, until you end up crowning the Antichrist!
If you haven’t guessed it, the war I am referring to is the Gog and Magog war of Ezekiel 38-39.
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great companywith bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: 5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: 6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. Ezekiel 38:1-6
Noah’s family started off with only 8 people and from them the entire world was populated, so this small group of tribes eventually scattered far and wide, with various branches going in opposite directions. It should not surprise us that sometimes closely related people groups went in opposite directions from each other. Neither should it surprise us if a woman married into another tribe, and then named her sons after her own grandfather.
In the Spirit of Prophecy, I quoted from an article which says that the people of south-east asia are descendants of Gomer. The name Khmer is common in those tribes, and is how they refer to themselves. There are also places having variations of this name. Did this name come from the biblical Gomer? It is likely that it did. Are they then descendants of Gomer, or part of his tribes?
I think it is likely that some of the granddaughters of Gomer probably married into the tribes that founded the Asian peoples, at Babel. When the tongues were confused, and the people scattered, it would have been natural for some of them to name their children after loved ones who had gone in opposite directions, but does this mean that these people are a part of the tribes of Gomer?
I don’t think so, simply because the biblical tribal designations always follow father-to-son, and the women are considered a part of their husband’s family. Thus, though the people of south-east Asia are related to Gomer, they are not considered to be a part of his tribes.
In the list of nations that are involved in the Gog/Magog war, there is a curious entry “Gomer, and all his bands”. Most of the other names are without much controversy; Meschech and Tubal were the fathers of modern Russia. Magog is the group of nations from eastern Europe, all the way to Georgia. Persia is Iran, and Libya is Libya. By using the phrase “Gomer, and all his bands” the author implies that Gomer would have many descendants, and that they would be scattered far and wide. This is the case.
So, who are the descendants of Gomer?
And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. Genesis 10:3
This is where it gets a little confusing.
The Jews who lived in Germany, and western Europe, are called “Ashkenazi” Jews, not because they are from Ashkenaz, but because of the people they lived with; the Germans. The Germans are descendants of Ashkenaz, as in fact are all the Germanic tribes. Thus nations like Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Holland, and England will also be a part of this coalition! Don’t forget that the Anglo-Saxons were a German tribe who left Germany, and Denmark, and invaded the British Isles sometime around the sixth century AD.
Have you ever wondered why the British royal family never goes to Israel? It appears that they have bought into the lie of British Israelism! An anti-Semitic heresy if ever there was one! This idea, however, does explain some of the mentality that will lead England to join this ill-fated endeavour!
The Armenians also have a tradition that they are descendants of Ashkenaz. I believe that both the Germans and Armenians are a part of this same family.
The descendants of Gomer’s second son, Riphath, are the Celtic tribes. These tribes originally went to Armenia in the Ural mountains, and then gradually made their way westward throughout Europe, until they settled in the British Isles and parts of France. The Irish, Welsh, Scots and the Bretons of France are descendants of Riphath, along with the Armenians.
Don’t forget that the majority of North Americans were at one time from the British Isles, and if we add-in the other northern Europeans with either Germanic or Celtic backgrounds, the majority of North Americans are still likely to be descendants of Gomer. Will North America join the Gog/Magog war against Israel? I doubt it. North Americans don’t live in tribal units like most of the world, being a kind of “melting pot” of ethnicities. I really think North America will sit-out the conflict, but suffer God’s judgment anyway for living “carelessly in the Isles” when they are needed by Israel. (Ezekiel 39:6)
So who is the third son of Gomer; Togarmah?
The largest concentration of Togarmah are the Turkic tribes, which extend from Turkey, throughAzerbaijan, and Turkmenistan, all the way to the Uighurs in China.
My own ancestors came from the Czech lands, who have occasionally been identified as descendants of Magog. I am beginning to believe they are correct.
The Hungarians are also descendants of Magog. You will find it interesting that their name for themselves is Magyar, which itself is a corruption of Magog.
If you look on the map I have provided, you will see that while these nations are geographically close, they are not now one political union, although they were semi-united as Warsaw Pact countries during the cold war. Is “Gog” a ruler of a unified Eastern European Union? In that case it is possible that the EU might break-up into three entities; Southern Europe including Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal; Western Europe including France and the Germanic nations; and Eastern Europe!
You will notice that I have left Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal in grey. This is because I think they will form the backbone of a new Southern European Union. I am not sure exactly which nations will be involved, but I think there will be ten of them. This is another of Satan’s deceptions.
China and Mongolia are also left greyed out, because while some have identified them with Magog, I don’t agree. China is a part of the “kings of the east”, who will attack Israel later, during Armageddon, with an army of 200 million. The people of Magog are the Georgians, and other eastern European nations, from Poland to Bulgaria, and the Ukraine.
The people of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, are of a similar ethnicity to the Iranians, (mixed with large numbers of Turks) and will also be a part of this war.
The Pathans of Afghanistan and Pakistan are currently sheltering large numbers of the people of Israel. While these Israelite tribes have converted to Islam, I expect most of them to return to Israel, and the God of their fathers, after a major defeat of Islam. Whether this will be after the Psalm 83 war, or the Gog/Magog war, I am not yet sure. One thing is certain, when they do go back there won’t be enough room for all of them in Israel proper, and some of them will have to go to Lebanon! (Zechariah 10:9-10) This fact itself, implies that Lebanon, will not be run by Hezbollah, nor ISIS, by the time these people return.
I once worked with a man from Kashmir, and I asked him about the Pathan tribes. His answer was “We don’t like them, they are not from our area”.
The Gog-Magog war will be an extremely large conflict, with people involved from the borders of China all the way to the British Isles. It will be as large as World War 2, with more deadly weaponry! To many who witness it, it will seem like Armageddon!
On the other side will be Israel, the Arabs, and the nations who have agreed to protect her after the Psalm 83 war, the ten nation confederacy from southern Europe, which is still yet to form. The Psalm 83 war goes a long way to explaining the situation Israel, the Arabs, and the Europeans will find themselves in, at the start of this conflict.
Are we seeing the beginnings of this group of nations with the current Greek financial crisis? I don’t know for sure, but it sure looks like it!
At the same time, as Greece is agitating the other members of the EU, they are already cooperatingmilitarily with Israel. It is in their interest to do so, and I think that this cooperation will blossom after the Psalm 83 war, and after the break-up of the European Union. This cooperation will be a decisive factor in the destruction of Rome during the Gog/Magog war. It will be the reason why Rome will be targeted by the invading armies!
