After Twenty Years and $2 Trillion Dollars the U.S. Leaves Afghanistan The Taliban Again Control Afghanistan--Who Are the Taliban? They Worship Baal Thinking Him to Be God Pray They See Jesus Christ The word Taliban comes from tālib, or "student" in Arabic, as the group was started by Pakistani and Saudi Islamic religious school students in the mid-1990s.  A Taliban is a student of the teachings of Baal, called "Allah" in the Qur'an.  They have been deceived into thinking him to be God, but this powerful spirit is not God, but greatly desires to be God.  Many Bible verses warn of this spirit trying to cause the entire world to worship him.  This spirit also has a false prophet (Revelation 13).  This false prophet is Mohammad. This spirit is the "Man of Lawlessness" in 2 Thessalonians.  The "beast from the sea" in Revelation 13.  The "prince who is to come" in Daniel 9.  The "woman in the basket" in Zechariah 5.  The one spirit that causes humans to be "astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come" in Revelation 17.  The "powerful delusion" of 2 Thessalonians.   Allah is a very powerful spirit--not a human. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NIV) Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.  He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. Qur'an 20:14 Indeed, I am Allah.  There is no God except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance. After the 9/11 attacks by Osama Bin Laden and al Qaeda, the Taliban were removed from power in Afghanistan by US-led forces in 2001, but the group has steadily regained strength and is seizing territory again. As the U.S. completes its withdrawal by September 11, after two decades of war, the Taliban are overrunning Afghan military outposts, towns and villages and surrounding major cities, and will soon topple the Afghan government.
