The bomb cyclone that has killed more than 60 people in the US is set to spark heavy rain and flooding in the UK.
The storm across the North Atlantic sent temperatures plunging in the US and has now triggered a yellow weather warning over Scotland for heavy rain.
The warning is in effect from 3am on Friday December 30 for 15 hours in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling.

Israel could attack Iranian nuclear sites within two or three years, the nation's defence minister said on Wednesday, in an unusually specific threat increasing the tension between the two countries and raising fears of another global war.
Israeli minister Benny Gantz told a cohort of graduating air force cadets this month that they could be jetting off to attack Iranian nuclear sites by 2024 or 2025.
It comes as tensions between Iran and Israel grow after the countries have been in a Cold War-style conflict for years.
