Missiles intercepted near Riyadh after Saudi coalition hits Yemen fuel depot
Missiles and drones have been intercepted over Riyadh after the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen struck a fuel depot near the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, its spokesperson says.
Maj Gen Turki al-Maliki said projectiles targeting the Saudi capital and other cities were intercepted. No casualties have been reported however fires broke out at Saudi oil company Aramco's building in Dhahran after the strike, officials said.
It comes after the coalition struck the Yemen Petroleum Company's al-Sabaha facility on Tuesday night. The latest tit-for-tat attacks in the conflict "have potentially negative spillovers for everybody, everywhere", the chief of the the International Monetary Fund said.
The Houthis warned they would target the airport and Aramco refinery in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, and Aramco's headquarters in the eastern city of Dammam.
It came as the Saudi cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, said the Iran-backed group would "bear the consequences" of its recent deadly attacks on the kingdom.
Thirteen people were killed when a missile hit King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, while another person was killed in a similar attack there the following day.

Russian strikes leave 600,000 without power in Ukraine, as Starlink restrictions affect front line
At least 600,000 people in Ukraine are without electricity after deadly overnight Russian missile and drone strikes, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.
He said "critical" energy infrastructure had been hit in Kyiv and the capital region, and in the north-eastern city of Kharkiv – despite US President Donald Trump's claim on Sunday that an "energy ceasefire" was in place between Russia and Ukraine.
Three people were killed in Kyiv, officials said. Russia said its "massive" strikes had hit communications and energy facilities used by Ukraine's military. Separately, Zelensky's adviser said speed restrictions on the Starlink communications network had disrupted Ukrainian battlefield "missions".
In Wednesday's post on Telegram, Serhiy Beskrestnov said Elon Musk's SpaceX company had "implemented overnight a speed limit on Starlink terminals". He said Ukrainian troops had not been informed about this, and the speed limits - set at 100mph (160km/h) - had already resulted in "the disruption of a number of missions".
"It is clear that this action cannot be a coincidence and is related to the current political situation," Beskrestnov said. In the follow-up post, he stressed that Starlink was the most effective tool for enabling interceptors to shoot down Russia's newly developed jet-propelled drones.

AI road cameras that can see inside vehicles detect 19,000 offences in just two weeks
Almost 19,000 traffic offences have been identified in just two weeks after the installation of new traffic cameras equipped with artificial intelligence.
West Midlands Combined Authority launched a new AI-powered road safety trial to crack down on motorists breaking road rules.
Within just two weeks of launching, the AI-equipped cameras captured just under 19,000 images of people using their phones at the wheel or not wearing their seat belts.
The damning results have prompted West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker to remind drivers of the dangers of failing to follow basic road rules.

Church of England faces major legal challenge over its plan to shell out £100m in slavery reparations
Two Church of England members have applied to the Charity Commission for permission to mount a legal challenge against the Church Commissioners' plan to channel £100million towards slavery reparations.
Dr Bijan Omrani, a churchwarden in the Diocese of Exeter, and Revd Dr Jamie Franklin, a rector in the Diocese of Winchester, have brought forward the argument.
The initiative, known as Project Spire, was launched by the Church Commissioners following research into the Church of England's historical links to the transatlantic slave trade.
Dr Omrani and Revd Dr Franklin argue the proposed transfer of funds to a newly established body called the Fund for Healing, Repair and Justice is unlawful, and the Commissioners' charitable assets must support clergy stipends and parish ministry - not bankroll an entirely separate organisation with different aims.

Fears traditional British surnames will die out as Khan, Ahmed and Ali enter top 10 in England and Wales
Traditional British surnames could be dying out as they make way for names such as Khan, Ahmed and Ali.
Office for National Statistics (ONS) data has revealed a striking decline in traditionally British surnames among newborns across England and Wales.
The figures, seen by the Daily Mail, span roughly three decades and paint a picture of profound change in the nation's demographic makeup.
Surnames that once dominated birth registrations - quintessentially British names passed down through generations - have seen sharp falls in prevalence.
