Your King James Bible faithfully preserves doctrinal truth in Acts 8 that the modern versions seek to destroy
If you have a King James Bible, when you read Acts 8 you thrill to see the salvation of the very first Gentile in the Church Age, the Ethiopian Eunuch, and you marvel at the dispensational truth that's revealed when you're shown that baptism in now no longer necessary for salvation. But...if you have an NIV, an ESV, or John MacArthur's terrible new Legacy Standard Bible, those scripture nuggets have either been removed outright, or cast to the phantom zone of the footnotes section. Why? I'll tell you why.
"And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." Acts 8:36,37 (KJB)
People who cannot see dispensations in the Bible will try and tell you that salvation is the same from Genesis to Revelation, but that's a lie. Salvation isn't even the same from Acts 2 to Acts 8. In Acts 2:38, Peter is preaching to an exclusively Jewish crowd, and telling them, as a nation, to get baptized for the remission of sins. Yet just 6 chapters later, Phillip assures the Ethiopian Eunuch that belief unto salvation comes before baptism. You are watching the rebirth of the Ethiopian Eunuch while at the same time watching God giving birth to a new dispensation that we call the Church Age. This is all so ground breaking and revelatory that Satan then comes along with his modern version magic eraser to wipe it clean where he can, and cast doubt on it everyplace else.
