TURKEY THE NATION TO WATCH IN THE END TIMES!

Let’s Talk Turkey – The Nation Not The Bird

This weekend Americans will be gathering around dinner tables with family and friends in observance of Thanksgiving and while roasted turkeys are given a place of prominence for this meal, I would like to draw our attention to the nation of Turkey and how it is steadily gaining a place of prominence on the world stage in direct fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
Although Turkey is not named as such in the Bible, there are many references to this nation as a key player in very specific alliances and invasions leading up to the day of the Lord and Jesus’ return.  For example, passages that speak of Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Gomer and Togormah, to name a few, are all references to literal places in Old Testament times which lie in modern day Turkey and even extend into Syria.  The Bible is drawing our attention to this specific region because of the leadership role Turkey plays in these last days and I believe wisdom calls for us to be watchful regarding this nation.
It is on this note that the following headline really caught my attention last week UN Representative Calls For Establishing A ‘World Capital’ In Islamic Istanbul“.  Following are some excerpts:
The world needs a global capital and it should be the capital of Islamic Turkey, Istanbul, according to a UN special representative. Richard Falk, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestinian human rights, wrote a Nov. 1, 2012, opinion piece for the controversial al Jazeera English site calling for a “global capital” because of integration “by markets, by globally constituted battlefields, by changing geopolitical patterns.”
Falk recommended what al Jazeera called a “modest proposal” that should move the world past “the persisting tendency to view the hierarchy of global cities from a West-centric perspective: London, New York, Paris, Los Angeles placed in the first rank.”
Falk said there were two sides on where to locate such a capital – hard and soft power dynamics. He defined hard power as a view “that history is principally made by those who prevail in warfare, and little else.”
His description of soft power included “culture, political vitality, religious identity and ethics shapes and forms what unfolds.” He listed “several factors” why to choose Istanbul. Those included the city as a tourist destination, it has “also become a secure and acceptable place to hold the most delicate diplomatic discussions,” it is convenient, and Turkey has “gained economic and political credibility at a time when so many important states have either been treading water so as to remain afloat.”
He credited Turkey for “achieving a stable interface between secular principles and religious freedom” and for “moving away from the ‘over-secularization.’” Falk said choosing Istanbul as a world capital would be good because Turkey could provide the “satisfactions of a post-Western world civilization.”
Did you catch that?  Turkey is cited as a “secure and acceptable place to hold the most delicate diplomatic discussions” and with events in the Middle East becoming increasingly explosive, the time is fast approaching when a mediator (the Antichrist) will come forward with a plan for peace in the region (Daniel 9:27).  As Walid Shoebat writes, “Modern Turkey fulfills the requirements of mediator nation far better than any other country in the world, hands-down.  Turkey is the world’s premiere mediator and bridge nation in the following ways: Culturally and geographically situated between the East and West; Culturally and geographically situated between the Middle East and Europe; Politically situated between Israel and the Muslim World; Politically and religiously situated between deceptive (moderate Islam) and more radical Muslim nations.” (Pg. 429 “God’s War on Terror”)
Revelation 17 confirms Turkey’s leadership role as the Antichrist nation along with Ezekiel 38, Daniel 9 and 11, Isaiah, Micah and Zechariah.  Further, in speaking to the seven historical churches that were situated along the west coast of Asia Minor, which is modern day Turkey, Jesus himself tells us Satan’s seat (throne) is in Turkey.
Revelation 2:12-13
12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
This passage is referring to a massive structure that sat atop a high hilltop in Pergamum.  The Greeks originally built this structure in the 2nd century B.C. as a temple dedicated to Zeus.  Later, the Romans also worshiped Zeus under the name Jupiter.  Again Walid writes, “There is significant evidence to view the Allah of the Muslims as the Arab counterpart to Baal, Sin, Zeus or Jupiter.  In pre-Islamic times, Allah worship, as well as the worship of Baal, were both astral religions in the sense that they involved the worship of the sun, the moon and the stars.  But notice that Jesus did not refer to the Pergamum Altar as the throne of Zeus, but rather as the throne [seat] of Satan.  We can assume that Jesus made this point for a reason.  While the various Beast Empires worshiped an assortment of gods under different names, Jesus actually referred to Zeus – the chief god of the ruling beast empire – as Satan.  Zeus was Satan dressed in a Greek Toga.  This point is crucial as we attempt to understand the nature of the work of Satan on the earth in the Last Days.  Not only does Jesus equate Zeus (or Jupiter) with Satan, but he also states that Satan’s “throne”, or spiritual base, was geographically located in Turkey.” (Pg. 426 “God’s War on Terror”)

It is interesting to note that this Pergamum Altar, that Jesus refers to in Revelation, was excavated in 1879 by a German archaeological team and subsequently shipped to Germany where it was reconstructed and now sits for public display in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.

And given the occultist, satanic spirit and antichrist nature of the Nazi regime, it should come as no surprise that the Pergamum Altar was used as a model for the construction of the Fuhrer’s pulpit in Zeppelin Field in Nuremberg from which Hitler spewed anti-Semitic poison in Nazi rallies.
Democratic National Convention 2008
Further, it has been noted that Obama’s stage assembled for the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado also bore a striking resemblance to the Pergamum Altar which I believe is yet another modern day example of the antichrist spirit being displayed.
What is also interesting about all of this is that in March of 2006 the nation of Turkey, after having failed to convince Germany to return the Pergamum Altar, decided to rebuild a perfect replica of this ancient Altar on the same ancient hill in Bergama, the precise location of ancient Pergamum.
This certainly leaves me wondering if the same dark anti-Semitic spirit that seems to have followed this ancient satanic altar to Germany, will now also find a welcome home back in Turkey.  In fact, there are many reasons to believe this may already the case.
So let us remain watchful and not be fooled by the moderate nature of Islam Turkey presently displays.  Remember, the Antichrist will initially appear moderate and trustworthy but he will eventually show his true colors.  God has showed us these things in advance through His Word so that we would have understanding regarding the signs of the times and not be shaken as we watch and wait for Jesus’ soon return.
