Isaiah 19 Being Fulfilled – Nile River Will Be Drying Up Soon

With our focus on the fulfillment of Isaiah 17 on Friday, the next natural step is to look atIsaiah 19. The prophecy described in Isaiah 17 focused on Syria, and progress on this prophecy is visible and moving closer and closer to complete fulfillment. But, for a long time, it was a lot harder to see how Isaiah 19 could be fulfilled because it would require something completely extraordinary – the Nile River drying up.
Seriously, how is it possible that the Nile could dry up?
Well, you could put a dam on the headwaters of the Nile, and then have a drought. You could also add in a collapse in military assistance to Egypt so that she can’t defend her claim to the waters of the Nile. And, that is happening right now.

Isaiah 19 Being Fulfilled – Nile is Going to Dry Up

I first wrote about this in my Ezekiel Tetrad website, more than two years ago. At that time, I was unaware that Ethiopia had started their project called the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Although, I did know about Egypt’s military stance upriver – how they were prepared to attack ANYONE who they thought was taking too much water out of the Nile.
However, I didn’t factor in the effects of the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. Hosni Mubarak was thrown out of power in February 2011, and just two months later, Ethiopia announced the project to dam up the Blue Nile – the main source of the Nile River – and the hastily laid cornerstone for it.
Do you think that there’s a connection to those two events?
I think so. In fact, there can be no doubt.
Back in 2009, Ethiopia surveyed the area where they are now building the GERD – in the hopes of eventually building this dam. Hosni Mubarak caught wind of this survey and built an airbase in southeastern Sudan in 2010 – in preparation for attacking this project. Ethiopia was obviously intimidated and halted progress until they saw Hosni thrown out of power.
It Starts Next Year
Now, they’re racing to get this project done, and there are reports that this Ethiopian dam could start generating power next year – even though the dam project won’t be officially complete until 2017.
This means that the flow of water for the Nile will be immediately reduced next year, and THAT will spell trouble for the government in Egypt. There will be uprisings and tumult over this as the people begin to suffer a shortage of water. The response will be an even more tyrannical and repressive government in Egypt.
So, is everything in place for the fulfillment of Isaiah 19?
Good question. We’ll have to wait and see. Maybe another dam project will be announced for the White Nile. Or, maybe there will be a sudden drought in Sub-Saharan Africa that dramatically reduces the waters of the Nile – in addition to this dam. Or, it could be all of the above.
More Than One Dam
I’m betting that another dam is going to be built because Isaiah 19 says this:
And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither. – Isaiah 19:6
Notice that the ‘rivers’ will be diverted, not just one. So, we should expect other dams to be built – especially when all the other countries at the headwaters of the Nile (Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, and Democratic Republic of Congo) see that Egypt can do nothing to Ethiopia.
The point is that, for the first time in history, we are beginning to see the fulfillment of Isaiah 19 – in ways that were unimaginable before. But, we aren’t done yet.
We still have another ten verses in Isaiah 19, and they will blow your mind.
Egypt Terrified of Israel
Isaiah 19:17 is a bit perplexing. It says:
And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts, which he hath determined against it. – Isaiah 19:17
Either the Egyptians will be terrified OF Israel, or be terrified BY events in Israel. I suspect the former, but even that is confusing.
What could cause the Egyptians to be terrified of Israel?
Well, if Israel uses nuclear weapons to destroy the nuclear weapons program of Iran, that would do it. The ability coupled with the willingness to use nukes would terrify ANYONE – and lead to the coming of Gog and Magog.
But, you could also see how the events of Gog and Magog would terrify Egypt. So, I leave this interpretation to you to ponder over.
But, there’s more.
Egypt Becomes Christian
Even MORE perplexing are these four verses:
In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the Lord. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the Lord because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them. And the Lord shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the Lord, and perform it. And the Lord shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the Lord, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them. Isaiah 19:19-22
Now, if there was ever a situation where the word ‘wow’ should be used, this is it.
Wow.
Egypt becomes a Christian country. THAT is mind-blowing.
It is easier to believe that the Nile would dry up, than believe this, but the Bible says that it will happen. So, there can be no doubt that it really will happen.
And, we’re STILL not done.
Christian Federation in the Middle East
The last three verses talk about a Middle East that has been completely transformed. The idea of it… is… well, it’s beyond amazing. Here are the verses:
In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: Whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance. Isaiah 19:23-25
What a glorious moment that will be. What a fantastic, mind-blowing future. There will actually be a Christian Federation that combines Israel, Egypt and Syria/Assyria together. The implications of that are almost too much to get your head around. But, there’s a downside to think about.
The Problem
The problem is that all of this will require a massive upheaval of catastrophic proportions. Egypt and Syria/Northern Iraq/Southern Turkey will need to be devastated. The coming of Gog and Magog will do horrific damage to Israel (Zechariah 13:8). And THAT will include a fire that will rain down on those who live securely (Ezekiel 39:6).
This means more than just a forever-changed Middle East. It also means a world that suffers dramatic upheaval.
And, it’s all coming very, very soon.
Are you ready for this?(That’s a link. Do more than just think about it.)
